Bringing Living Heritage to the Classroom in Asia-Pacific: A Resource Kit UNESCO Bangkok | APCEIU | International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) Integrating living heritage in school teaching and learning can enhance education quality, enliven the experiences of students and teachers, and contribute to keeping this heritage alive for current and future generations. In addition, as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has also demonstrated, living heritage can play an important role in ensuring the well-being and resilience of communities. UNESCO encourages countries to safeguard living heritage through formal and non-formal education. From the end of 2019 to early 2022, UNESCO has been working with partners to implement a pilot project “Teaching and Learning with Living Heritage in Schools” in six countries in Asia and the Pacific - including Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Republic of Korea and Thailand. Over 1900 students from 21 schools had the opportunity to participate in these innovative classes. Throughout the process, 86 teachers, with more than two thirds being women, have developed and tested 101 lesson plans and activities. This Resource Kit provides step-by-step guidance and key resources on why and how to integrate living heritage in lessons and extracurricular activities in schools. Whoever you are – policy-maker, school director, teacher, student, parent, heritage practitioner – you have a vital role to play in this process.
UNESCO Bangkok | APCEIU | International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP)

Global Citizenship Education: A Policymaking Awareness and Advocacy Handbook APCEIU | UNESCO Bangkok GCED is critical for learners and countries to reach the SDG-Education 2030 targets. Many countries have GCED elements, either explicitly or implicitly, within their education policies. However, to fully realize SDG target 4.7 and to enable our learners to achieve the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes needed to succeed in an ever-changing and adaptable world, countries may need to explicitly build these components directly into various education policies. This policymakers’ handbook provides some guidance on how policymakers can develop and adapt local level policies in order to strengthen GCED learning.
Peace Education in Northeast Asia: A Situational Analysis سنة النشر: 2021 المؤلف: Soonwon Kang | Cheng Liu | Ketei Matsui | Batbaatar Monkhooroi | Boyoung Park | Muyu Huang | Oyuntsetseg Dugarsuren المؤلف المؤسسي: APCEIU Being central to education for international understanding and global citizenship, peace education has always been an important theme in UNESCO. For effective delivery of peace education, it is critical to examine and understand the relevance of peace education and its key issues and approaches at a given juncture. With this in mind, in 2020, APCEIU conducted a study on peace education in South Korea to review its current state and suggest some policy recommendations. Following up on this study, APCEIU initiated in 2021 a research project on peace education in Northeast Asia in order to identify how peace education is interpreted and practised in the countries of the region and explore possibilities of cooperation among peace educators, researchers, and practitioners in the region. Building on this research, APCEIU hopes to develop and carry out joint projects for peace education in the region.
