Revision Process of the 1974 Recommendation concerning Education for International Understanding, Co-operation and Peace and Education relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms: Compilation of Member State Comments سنة النشر: 2023 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Adopted in 1974, the Recommendation concerning education for international understanding, co-operation and peace and education relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms is considered a landmark legal instrument that brings together for the first time peace, international understanding, human rights, fundamental freedoms and education. As per Circular letter 4401, the preliminary report and the first draft of the revised 1974 Recommendation were transmitted to Member States for their written comments and observations. These written comments were taken into consideration by the Director-General when preparing the revised second draft of the Recommendation to be discussed at the Intergovernmental Special Committee Meeting (Category II), in view of its submission to the 42nd session of the General Conference in November 2023 and eventual adoption.

Ensuring Well-Being through Social-Emotional Learning in the Digital World سنة النشر: 2023 المؤلف المؤسسي: Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) This document aims to identify the important elements addressed during the various TAGe discussions (social media discussion and live event) in addition to offering key recommendations for decision-makers. Concretely, this document has sought to highlight two social and emotional challenges faced today by youth, with a third issue present in each of them –(1) educational and employment disparities (economic exclusion),(2) poor civic engagement, and(3) the impact of the digital divide and misuse of social media platforms– in addition to showing how SEL competencies can be a tool to address the social and emotional challenges that may be encountered, supported by technological tools.

The multiplication of armed conflicts and the shock of October 7 have also had dramatic consequences. Survey on Privacy in Media and Information Literacy with Youth Perspectives سنة النشر: 2017 المؤلف: Sherri Hope Culver | Alton Grizzle المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Media and information literate individuals are more empowered to make informed decisions about their privacy online and offline, among other things. Accordingly, governments and policy-makers who are committed to ensuring that the privacy of citizens is respected should also be committed to media and information literacy (MIL) for all. If they are not, then their efforts will be less sustainable. Equally, private and public enterprises that genuinely want to respect the privacy of citizens should purposefully contribute to MIL awareness among users qua citizens. Two research surveys are referenced in this report. The first investigated youth attitudes towards MIL and social and democratic discourses. One of the seven themes addressed in the context of social and democratic discourses was privacy. The research was carried out by UNESCO. The second survey studied privacy in MIL courses globally and was conducted for UNESCO by the UNESCO-UNAOC University Network on Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural dialogue (MILID Network), and members of the Global Alliance for Partnerships in Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL). The report responds to UNESCO’s efforts to stimulate global research into privacy in MIL. Ultimately, this report aims to provide conceptual, development and policy recommendations to foster privacy in MIL, while enabling the critical engagement of people, including young women and men, in an environment conducive to sustainable development and to freedom of expression online and offline. It seeks to provide clarity on the complex issue of how MIL and privacy intersect.

Elles sont cependant encore insuffisantes pour atteindre les objectifs affichés, manquant en particulier de nombreux outils pour développer une démarche rigoureuse, cohérente et efficace. L’enseignement supérieur a pourtant un rôle majeur à jouer, non seulement pour réduire sa propre empreinte écologique, mais aussi pour produire, adapter et diffuser les connaissances nécessaires à la réussite de la transition écologique.Higher education institution occupy a specific place in the ecological transition. Representing nearly half of the state operators and catering to a diverse audience, they have a substantial environmental impact. Numerous initiatives have been undertaken in recent years, and policies within these institutions are beginning to take shae. However, they are still insufficient to achieve the stated objectives, notably lacking many tools to develop a rigorous, coherent and effective approach. Higher education has a crucial role to play, not only in reducing its own ecological footprint but also in generating, adapting, and disseminating th knowledge necessary for the success of the ecological transition.
