A School of Cosmopolitanism: Experiences with Global Citizenship Education in Classroom Practice سنة النشر: 2019 المؤلف: Heidi Grobbauer | Werner Wintersteiner المؤلف المؤسسي: Austrian Commission for UNESCO This publication focuses on examples from academic practice: this best practice collection demonstrates how young people can successfully be inspired to “think globally, act locally”. What is crucial is maintaining a view of the wider world; in particular, cooperation efforts with educational institutes outside of Europe (e.g. “élèves pour élèves” in Burkina Faso) provide a critical awareness of global connections. Learning to know/Learning to do/Learning to be/Learning to live together – these four pillars form the pedagogical foundation of the work carried out at more than 90 UNESCO schools throughout the whole of Austria. Since their founding in 1957, UNESCO schools have been considered model schools at which lessons are structured in a project-oriented, participative and even topic-specifc way. The unique ‘spirit’ of UNESCO schools often makes special projects possible. In the programme for the annual meetings of recent years, for example, Global Citizenship Education has been an ongoing topic of focus, accompanied by experts from various specialised institutions and NGOs. The pedagogical preparation of contents in a manner that ensures they are actually absorbed in the classroom presents a major challenge. Different types of schools have different educational goals, and the themes have to be made accessible for different age groups. The pedagogical finesse of each class team or individual teacher lies in finding the most motivating approaches. 
Charlevoix Declaration on Quality Education for Girls, Adolescent Girls and Women in Developing Countries سنة النشر: 2018 المؤلف المؤسسي: G7 The Charlevoix Declaration is a commitment from the Leaders of the G7 to work towards inclusive, quality, equitable education for girls, adolescent girls, and women in developing countries and crisis contexts.The Charlevoix Declaration on Quality Education for Girls, Adolescent Girls and Women in Developing Countries represents a joint effort from the Leaders of G7 countries to step up for girls and women in conflict and crisis contexts. Focusing both on dismantling the barriers to education and improving the quality of education, the G7 have committed to promote and improve learning outcomes for both refugees and host communities, while also working to reduce the time children and youth, especially girls, are out of school as a result of conflict and displacement.To support the implementation of the Charlevoix Declaration, Canada also led the mobilization of CDN $3.8+ billion. With contributions from the World Bank, the European Union, Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom, this initiative represents the single largest investment in education for girls in conflict and crisis settings.

Reconceptualising global education from the grassroots: the lived experiences of practitioners سنة النشر: 2015 المؤلف المؤسسي: DEEEP This research aims to conceptualise and reflect on DEEEP's understanding of Globalcitizenship Education(i.e., GE) in a way that is practice-led and rooted in practitioners’ experiences. We argue that the strategies practitioners use to negotiate the institutional and conceptual challenges of GE should be more systematically engaged with and central to our understanding of GE, and provide critical lessons for how practitioners can be supported, but also how we can understand the GE that results. 
우리는 지구촌 시민: 축구로 배우는 국제이해교육 سنة النشر: 2004 المؤلف المؤسسي: APCEIU 『우리는 지구촌 시민—축구로 배우는 국제이해교육』은 세계화 시대에 우리 학생들이 세계 이웃의 다른 모습을 이해하고, 함께 살아가는 가치관을 깨우칠 수 있도록 도움을 주기 위하여 만들어진 교재입니다.세계적인 석학들과 교육 전문가들로 구성된 유네스코 21세기 세계교육위원회는 「들로르 보고서」에서 ‘함께 살기 위한 교육’을 21세기 교육의 핵심 과제로 제시하였습니다. 점차 증가하고 있는 여러가지 갈등 문제를 교육을 통하여 해결해 나가기 위한 시도인 것입니다. 이러한 세계적인 흐름 속에서 우리나라도 이에 발맞추어 제 7차 교육과정에서 '국제이해교육'을 창의적 재량학습 과목의 하나로 채택하였습니다. 이제는 국제이해교육의 하나의 독립된 학습 과목으로 자리잡을 수 있게 되었고, 이에 걸맞은 전문 교재와 교육 자료들이 필요하게 되었습니다. 하지만 안타깝게도 이러한 시대적인 요구를 만족시켜 줄만한 교재나 교육 자료는 그다지 많지 않습니다. 또한 '국제이해교육'이라는 제목을 통해서도 알 수 있듯이, 그 범위가 아주 넓어 어디서부터 어떻게 시작해야 할 지 막막한 기분이 드는 것도 사실입니다.유네스코 아시아태평양 국제이해교육원은 이러한 교육 현장의 요구에 부응하기 위해 『우리는 지구촌 시민—축구로 배우는 국제이해교육』을 발간하게 되었습니다. 유네스코 아시아태평양 국제이해교육원은 아시아·태평양 지역의 45개 나라들과 함께 '국제이해교육'을 강화하고 발전시킬 책임을 완수하기 위해 학교와 시민사회에서 다양한 활동을 이어오고 있습니다. 이러한 활동의 일환으로 우리 교육원은 다양한 분야의 전문가들과 함께 국제이해교육의 교육과정을 연구하는 동시에, 교원들에 대한 연수와 교육자료 개발에 온 힘을 쏟고 있습니다. 이번에 발간된 『우리는 지구촌 시민—축구로 배우는 국제이해교육』은 일곱 개의 장으로 구성되어 있으며, 각 장은 학생들이 세계 여러 나라의 저마다 다른 문화에 대한 이해를 통해서 문화간 이해, 인권, 평화, 세계화, 지속가능한 발전 등의 범세계적인 가치관을 배울 수 있도록 짜여졌습니다. 학생들이 일상 생활에서 쉽게 접할 수 있는 '축구'라는 작고 친근한 소재를 통해 '나와 다른 모습에 대한 이해'와 '함께 만들어가는 세상'을 체험하고 배울 수 있도록 꾸몄으며, 각 단원마다 다양한 <함께해보기>를 수록하여 학생들이 직접 참여함으로써 자신들이 가지고 있던 편견과 선입견을 발견하고 스스로 깨우쳐 나갈 수 있도록 구성하였습니다. 이 교재를 통하여 학생들이 편견에서 벗어나 세계의 친구들과 함께 살아갈 수 있는 올바른 가치관과 태도를 배울 수 있게 되기를 바랍니다. 
Historical efforts to implement the UNESCO 1974 Recommendation on Education in light of 3 SDGs Targets سنة النشر: 2017 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO This paper presents an analytical overview of historical efforts by Member States of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to implement the 1974 Recommendation concerning education for international understanding, cooperation and peace education relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms. The author of the review was hired in April 2016 to undertake an analysis of Member States’ progress reports submitted for the fourth (2008) and fifth (2012) consultations on implementation of the 1974 Recommendation. The main purpose of the review was to provide a historical overview of efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Targets 4.7, 12.8 and 13.3 and their proposed measurement indicators, based on states’ historical reporting on the Recommendation. A total of 94 country reports were reviewed for the exercise: 37 from the 4th Consultation (2008); and 57 from the 5th Consultation (2012). The coding involved retrofitting the content of reportsto conceptsthat may have been developed at a later date for the Sustainable Development Agenda and coding for data that was not explicitly requested in the Consultations. Following the coding, a quantitative and qualitative analysis was undertaken and is presented in the following report.

Paving the Road to Education: A Target-by-Target Analysis of SDG 4 for Asia and the Pacific سنة النشر: 2018 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Bangkok The globally adopted development agenda “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” has established ambitious intentions that build on the past Millennium Development Goals but also expand on their achievements.The Sustainable Development Goal 4 on education propels forward the vision of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all through a holistic, aspirational and systematic education agenda. Education monitoring is an integral part in this process.This publication delivers a data-rich snapshot of Sustainable Development Goal 4, its targets and their monitoring indicators while analyzing available data through a lens of inequality.Assessing the progress which countries have made in the recent past as well as where countries currently stand, this publication sets a baseline against which Member States from Asia and the Pacic are able to monitor progress in achieving the Goal 4 over time but at latest by 2030.Finally, after discussing emerging opportunities and remaining challenges in the region, this publication seeks to assist Member States in identifying what steps can be taken to ensure that the region will achieve the new education agenda.
