However, Lantonirina, 11, is focused on finishing school and dreams of becoming a teacher: "I don't plan to marry very early because I want to continue my studies.” Lantonirina’s mother and sister were both married as adolescents and had to leave school so she is determined to break the cycle.

COVID-19 Learning Losses: Rebuilding Quality Learning for All in the Middle East and North Africa سنة النشر: 2021 المؤلف: Hana Yoshimoto | Jeannette Vogelaar | Brenda Haiplik المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO | United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) | World Bank An entire generation of children in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is estimated to be affected by the education crisis determined by the COVID-19 pandemic, with potential impacts that are going beyond the immediate/short term and also well beyond the education domain itself, with consequences on children’s socialisation, mental well-being, and future perspective of being active members of their society, including in the labor market. More information on the impact of the crisis would help countries to put in place strategies to mitigate the impacts. Timely investment and action to prevent extreme impacts of this crisis on education are of paramount importance in MENA, which already tackling a learning crisis before the COVID-19 outbreak.This publication delineates the overall education status in MENA after the breakout of COVID-19 pandemic, by presenting the education responses in MENA, and assessing the potential learning loss through a simulation analysis, recommendations are provided on how to build back better and enhance access and quality learning for all.

A Transformative Agenda: Outcomes of the CONFINTEA VII Regional Preparatory Conferences سنة النشر: 2022 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL) In preparation for the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII), in Marrakech, Morocco, in June 2022, a series of regional conferences took place between February and September 2021, in some cases preceded by sub-regional consultations. Each of the regional preparatory conferences produced an outcome document summarizing the discussion, including key achievements in adult learning and education, crucial challenges and key recommendations. This document provides a synthesis of the outcomes of these regional and subregional consultations and will contribute to the Marrakech Framework for Action, the main outcome document from CONFINTEA VII, as well as providing a guide for all relevant stakeholders and UNESCO Member States to the key current issues in adult learning and education.

Youth Guide on Education for Peacebuilding and the Prevention of Violence سنة النشر: 2022 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO International Institute for Capacity-Building in Africa (IICBA) This publication is a training guide for the youth in both formal or non-formal education. It is a resource to work with children and young people in various settings, including schools, non-formal educational program, community activities and other settings. The goal of the training guide is therefore the youth to become a facilitator with the disposition, knowledge, skills and commitment to support other youth in developing their full potential as peace-builders. It provides a foundation of conflict analysis, peacebuilding and describes a learner centered approach to peace education and community engagement.
