Backtalk: The Participatory Film and Its Residency in the Space of Cultural Violence and Creative Education towards a Conceptual Understanding of Peace سنة النشر: 2017 المؤلف: Ruchika Gurung المؤلف المؤسسي: Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) Cultural violence is defined as the beliefs, attitudes and values that justify structural and direct violence (Galtung 1990). It dulls us into seeing exploitation and repression as normal or in not actively witnessing it, and the media plays a vital role in its dissemination. Media and in particular film studies occupies a space through which notions of culture, ideology, peace and violence are negotiated.While the observational approach to film is well established in education, participatory filmmaking as an educational tool is what this paper addresses, with reference to concepts of cultural violence and peace education.This paper uses Brantmeier’s (2011) five stage model, that encourages social and cultural change towards a future that is nonviolent, sustainable and renewable, and Bery’s (2003) conceptualisation of empowerment to propose that participatory film functions as a transformative creative process and challenges notions of identity and culture while helping learners describe the world around them (Zembylas & Bekerman 2013).Through analysing existing cases in the field of participatory video (Schwab-Cartas & Mitchell 2014), the author argue that participatory film functions as a tool for creative education practices that promotes a more hands-on approach to raising awareness about cultural violence and engaging with identity formation, and as a creative tool for knowledge creation and dissemination.

Les équipes de journalistes et d’enquêteurs de l'ONG peignent un portrait plutôt sombre, avec notamment un recul du droit des femmes, les conséquences dramatiques du réchauffement climatique sur les populations les plus vulnérables, le recul du droit de manifester, ou encore la prolifération de la haine en ligne dans le monde. La multiplication des conflits armés et le choc du 7 octobre ont également eu des conséquences dramatiques. Cependant, quelques bonnes nouvelles sont aussi à noter, avec des avancées pour les droits des personnes LGBTI par exemple. The multiplication of armed conflicts and the shock of October 7 have also had dramatic consequences. Youth PVE: Preventing Violent Extremism سنة النشر: 2020 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO | UN. Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Violent extremism threatens the security and fundamental rights of citizens all over the world, and undermines the attempts of many countries to achieve sustainable peace. Many violent extremist organizations work by recruiting disenfranchised youth and inciting them to commit acts of violence. This project focuses on meaningful youth engagement because we believe that enhancing the resilience of young people will prevent their involvement in violent extremism and instead transform them into agents of positive change. We provide a framework for action that mobilizes UNESCO at multiple levels to provide young people with opportunities, knowledge and capacities to foster dialogue and cooperation in furtherance of PVE.

Enseigner Témoigner سنة النشر: 2024 المؤلف المؤسسي: Ligue de l'enseignement, Fédération de Paris & Ibuka France En 1994, environ 1 million de Tutsi ont été tués au Rwanda. Le génocide perpétré contre les Tutsi au Rwanda constitue l’une des principales tueries du XXème siècle. Elle a été rendue possible par l’action d’extrémistes qui ont, pendant des années, attisé la haine anti-tutsi au sein de la population rwandaise à coup de préjugés, de fausses informations, d’accusations en miroir, de stratégie de manipulation et de conditionnement des esprits à la peur, à la haine et à la violence meurtrière.Avec l’inscription récente de son enseignement dans les programmes scolaires, de plus en plus d’enseignants travaillent avec leurs élèves sur cet événement majeur de l’histoire du XXème siècle. Parallèlement, des rescapés ressentent le besoin de témoigner pour partager leur histoire avec la jeune génération et prévenir ainsi les mécanismes qui ont rendu ce drame possible. Dans ce contexte, l’association Ibuka France et la Ligue de l’enseignement engagent une action commune pour proposer un accompagnement dans l’organisation et la gestion pédagogique d’une rencontre avec un témoin-rescapé en classe. Cet accompagnement vise à créer un cadre à la fois utile et sécurisant pour l’ensemble des acteurs engagés et impactés par le témoignage en classe. In 1994, around 1 million Tutsis were killed in Rwanda. The genocide perpetrated against the Tutsis in Rwanda is one of the major killings of the twentieth century. It was made possible by the actions of extremists who, for years, stirred up anti-Tutsi hatred among the Rwandan population by means of prejudice, false informations, mirror-image accusations, a strategy of manipulation and the conditioning of minds to fear, hatred and murderous violence.With the recent inclusion of the subject in school curricula, more and more teachers are working with their pupils on this major event in the history of the 20th century. At the same time, survivors are feeling the need to share their stories with the younger generation and prevent the mechanisms that made this tragedy possible. Against this backdrop, Ibuka France and the Ligue de l'enseignement have joined forces to offer support in organising and managing a meeting with a survivor-witness in the classroom. The aim of this support is to create a framework that is both useful and reassuring for all those involved and affected by the testimonial in the classroom.

It also considers the services that the child needs, to move from this approach, to the approach of the scientific model that aspires to comprehensive change. This guide is concerned with providing a comprehensive and integrated vision of children's rights policies, formulating standards and implications for these rights and programming them to ensure their enforcement, and building effective policies that guarantee the rights and well-being of children in the Arab region.
