Guidelines for Green and Low-Carbon Consumption at World Heritage Sites سنة النشر: 2024 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Beijing | International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) Benefiting from Chishui’s rich tourism resources, such as Chishui Danxia World Heritage site, national nature reserves, and attractive landscapes with bamboo featured, ecotourism is flourishing in Chishui. Since 2018, within the framework of China Youth Development Foundation Mercedes-Benz Star Fund "Conservation and Management of World Heritage Sites in China" project, UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia has been implementing the “Bamboo for Carbon Neutrality in Rural Areas” pilot activity on bamboo handicraft sustainable livelihood and carbon reduction and low-carbon development in collaboration with Chishui World Heritage Administration, Chishui Forestry Administration and International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) with the support from the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Guizhou Forestry and Grassland Administration. In recent years, the Chinese government has attached great importance to green consumption in implementing the Action Plan for Carbon Dioxide Peak Before 2030 and has achieved remarkable results. However, rigid constraints still exist in several industries, meaning that the long-term mechanism for promoting green consumption and the supporting role of green consumption in high-quality economic development need to be strengthened. In response to this demand, the Guidelines for Green and Low-Carbon Consumption at World Heritage Sites takes the development and utilization of bamboo resources as an entry point to provide systematic guidance for World Heritage sites to implement green and low-carbon concepts in consumer activities, especially in tourism development.
世界遗产地绿色低碳消费指南 سنة النشر: 2024 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Beijing | International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) 得益于赤水丰富的竹资源以及丹霞世界遗产地,自然保护区,风景区等旅游资源,近年来赴赤水市生态旅游人次增长迅速,带动和刺激在赤旅游消费。自2018年起,联合国教科文组织东亚地区办事处在CYDF梅赛德斯-奔驰《中国世界遗产地保护和管理》项目框架下,与赤水遗产地管理局、赤水林业局和国际竹藤组织合作,在文化和旅游部非物质文化遗产司和贵州林草局的支持下,在赤水开展 “竹乡碳计” 竹手工艺可持续生计以及世界遗产地减碳和低碳发展试点。近年来,中国政府为贯彻落实《2030年前碳达峰行动方案》,积极在全国范围内推广绿色消费理念,即各类消费主体在消费活动全过程贯彻绿色低碳理念的消费行为,并取得了积极进展。然而绿色消费需求仍待激发和释放,一些领域依然存在浪费和不合理消费,促进绿色消费长效机制尚需完善,绿色消费对经济高质量发展的支撑作用有待进一步提升。为回应这一需求,《世界遗产地绿色低碳消费指南》将以竹资源的开发和利用为切入点,为世界遗产地在消费活动特别是旅游业发展中贯彻绿色低碳理念提供系统性指导。

It is offered by the Association des Blogueurs de Guinée (ABLOGUI) through the IMPACT project (Implication of Digital Media in the Active Prevention of Conflicts and Tensions). It aims at raising awareness among young Guineans of the dangers of misinformation and hate speech, and to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to combat information disorder in a digital world.

Enhancing TVET through Digital Transformation in Developing Countries سنة النشر: 2023 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Technological advancements and digitalization are profoundly reshaping our work and lifestyle, business models and operations, and government policy choices. Digital transformation in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) is the planned and structured introduction of automated and streamlined processes within institutions and national technical and vocational education and training (TVET) systems through digital technology, with the goal of enhancing their scope, scale, efficiency and effectiveness and ultimately, driving their more sustainable development. This document provides overall perspective and five country case studies on digital transformation in TVET. Most countries studied face similar enabling factors: the digital infrastructure available; legal and policy frameworks; focused institutional change to improve the acquisition of digital skills; and the promotion of equality and inclusivity. To understand how digital transformation in TVET is occurring, the report analyses it at four levels: technical and technological development; curriculum and qualifications; teaching and learning using technology; and its contribution to the sustainability and resilience of societies.
Hydro Resilience: Citizen and Open Science for Climate Adaptation سنة النشر: 2024 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Human-induced climate change is affecting weather and climate extremes worldwide and causing changes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere and biosphere leading to widespread adverse impacts on people and nature. These conditions have exposed people to reduced water security and negatively affected food security and ecosystem services. Despite advances in climate and water sciences, there is still a significant gap between information availability and its uptake by stakeholders. Although there is abundant data and information available on the potential impacts of climate change, there is a lack of expert knowledge on the user side, which limits the development and implementation of effective adaptation strategies at the local level. There is also an opportunity to bring communities more on board to manage their climate risk through citizen engagement and to ensure that vulnerable communities can benefit from climate science foresight. To address these challenges, a new project was developed called ‘Hydro Resilience: Citizen and Open Science for Climate Adaptation’ to pilot citizen and open science applications for climate risk management and to support water management under climate change uncertainty.

Research Report: A Comparative Study on Hybrid Learning in Schools سنة النشر: 2024 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO International Bureau of Education (IBE) During the COVID-19 lockdown, policymakers and educators faced an unprecedented challenge disrupting all levels of education. The initial optimism about replacing physical classes with virtual lessons diminished as complex interconnected issues emerged. To address the need for continuous and sustainable learning, school systems implemented variations of hybrid learning during the pandemic, seeking to integrate physical and virtual classes. These approaches prompted this comparative study led by UNESCO-IBE. The initial phase of this study involved collecting and analysing data on hybrid strategies from six countries. The research aimed to examine factors influencing hybrid learning implementation during the lockdown, with a subsequent focus on developing and validating a practical Hybrid Learning Framework for Schools. The cross-case analysis was designed not to rank or compare, but to understand and connect different scenarios and contexts. Phase I focuses on current hybrid learning practices and influencing factors, while Phases II and III will concentrate on using the information gathered to create and validate a Hybrid Learning Framework for Schools. Hybrid learning is not just a response to pandemics but also serves as a viable solution for other scenarios where full school attendance is difficult. Aligned with UNESCO-IBE’s overarching vision of a comprehensive, personalized, and democratized curriculum accessible to all, hybrid learning facilitates inclusive education across diverse regions, overcoming geographical and temporal limitations. Global Priority Africa Flagships 2023: An Update from UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa سنة النشر: 2024 المؤلف المؤسسي: UNESCO Harare Two years into the implementation of the Operational Strategy for Priority Africa 2022-2029 (OSPA), a new biennium has commenced through the Programme and Budget for 2024-2025. With a goal of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations’ Agenda 2030 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063 “The Africa We Want”, the OSPA remains pivotal in accelerating the achievement of SDGs amidst a growing threat of regression and stagnation on some of the SDG targets. The relentless climatic changes have resulted in droughts and cyclones whose incessant rains have caused food insecurity, waterborne diseases and loss of biodiversity. Geopolitical crisis and the remnants of the impacts of COVID-19 continue to waylay the aspirations of the continent. Gender inequality, youth unemployment, education and HIV and AIDS continue to be areas for concern. Despite this plethora of challenges, Member States remain committed to Agenda 2030 and 2063 and the strong partnership existing with UNESCO and the rest of the UN system. While the OSPA is driven to address challenges in the areas of demography and sustainable development, education and knowledge, climate change, cultural renaissance, and peace and democracy these all have far-reaching consequences beyond their focus hence addressing these contributes widely to other thematic areas. Priority Africa reinforces UNESCO’s partnerships with African governing bodies such as the African Union (AU), Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Member States as well as other UN agencies. Being also aligned with the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and UNESCO’s Joint Programme of Action (JPA) 2022-2025, the OSPA continues to demonstrate its relevance to the region.
