The purpose is to strengthen the participatory, democratic and convivial processes that are developed at public schools. Therefore, the Secretariat of Education of Bogotá has created the Education for Citizenship and Civic Coexistence project. This document gathers the theoretical framework of citizenship and civic coexistence, orientated to the creation of curricula, learning communities and participatory spaces related to the development of civic capabilities that lead to a balance between academic knowledge and citizenship knowledge. It is mainly aimed for school managers, teachers and people interested in knowing the bases and orientations the project has, in order to be implemented at schools. Languages in adult literacy: policies and practices during the 15 years of EFA (2000-2015) سنة النشر: 2015 المؤلف: Clinton Robinson Linguistic diversity characterises many countries with large literacy needs. Meeting these needs will require a multilingual approach based on learning initial literacy in the learner’s mother tongue, with other languages used subsequently. This paper identifies five major challenges in implementing multilingual programmes, and traces the international policy developments over the 15 years of the EFA period. Four case studies – Mexico, Morocco, Papua New Guinea and Senegal – illustrate a range of policies, showing differing approaches and levels of commitment in providing literacy acquisition based on the mother tongue. The paper concludes with six policy orientations to guide action as part of the post- 2015 agenda.

With this approach, throughout its 88 pages it explores local applications and compares experiences from other regions, providing a broad and enriching view of this methodology. Solidarity-based service-learning is a recommended pedagogical strategy to face the educational challenges of the 21st century. According to the Delors report (1996), this methodology is aligned with the four pillars of education: learning to be, learning to learn, learning to do and learning to live together. The manual details how SLL projects can be a powerful tool for social change.
