UNICEF CHINA 2016 - 2020: FIVE YEARS OF RESULTS FOR CHILDREN IN CHINA Year of publication: 2021 Corporate author: United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) This report introduces the work of UNICEF in China during 2016-2020, including children protection, education and social policies. All In: Towards Tangible Solutions for Equity and Inclusion in Education Year of publication: 2024 Corporate author: United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) All In: Towards Tangible Solutions for Equity and Inclusion in Education showcases promising practices that were successfully implemented to ensure that inclusive education really does include all children, so that the most marginalized learners – including children with disabilities, children who are out of school, children living in poverty, marginalized girls, and refugee children – have access to quality education. While many of the promising practices were initiated in response to the COVID-19 crisis, or draw upon the pandemic experience, they go beyond the immediate focus of pre- or post-COVID-19 education systems to an overall view of child well-being and the need to focus on skills for the 21st century. Many of these practices have the potential to be applied more widely within education systems and can be adapted and replicated by stakeholders in any context where innovative and inclusive approaches are needed to protect and promote children’s right to education. Ingenuity, flexibility and a commitment to true inclusion and forward-looking policies are the common thread of promising practices in this document. This publication is a complementary resource to the 2021 report: Reimagining Girls’ Education: Solutions to Keep Girls Learning in Emergencies. Over the Tipping Point: How Multiple, Overlapping Climate and Environmental Shocks and Hazards on Children in the East Asia and Pacific Region are Eroding their Coping Strategies, Exacerbating Inequality, and Forever Changing Their Futures Year of publication: 2023 Corporate author: United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) This report unveils the intensifying frequency and compounding effects of climate-related hazards intertwined with non-climate shocks like the COVID-19 pandemic and socio-economic challenges. Given that children are already facing the impacts of climate change, adaptation and resilience measures are needed now to reduce the full force of impacts. This report recommends three areas to do so: Children have continued access to the key services they need: This requires investing in climate-smart and disaster-resilient education, health, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services for children, so that children can access these services despite the shocks they face; Child protection and social protection systems are in place and are climate-responsive; and There is understanding of what to expect and how to adjust as necessary, establishing and utilizing strong early warning, risk management and disaster preparedness systems. In all of this, children and young people must be at the forefront of our actions. Urgency demands that they take action themselves, leading the way with innovative solutions for both mitigation and adaptation. We must support their efforts, providing them with the necessary skills and resources to amplify their work. Above all, we owe them every opportunity for success as we work together to secure a better world for generations to come. Education in a Post-COVID World: Towards a Rapid Transformation; Mission Recovering Education in Humanitarian Settings Brief Year of publication: 2023 Corporate author: United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Towards the goal of COVID-19 recovery for crisis-affected children, UNICEF has been implementing the Mission: Recovering Education in Humanitarian Settings programme in 27 countries and across all seven regional offices, with support from the United States government. This programme emerged from Mission: Recovering Education, globally launched in 2021 by UNICEF, UNESCO and the World Bank. To examine how these programme countries have progressed in recovering and accelerating learning through the five key policy actions in the RAPID framework, this brief presents findings from the 4th round of the Survey on National Education Responses to COVID-19 School Closures (‘joint survey’), administered between April to July 2022, and the Global Education Recovery Tracker (‘GERT’), administered between May to July 2022. These findings are a follow-up to the 1st round of RAPID data collected in March 2022.
