Toolbox in Education for Peace Year of publication: 2013 Author: Luz Marfa Chapela Corporate author: UNESCO Mexico The components of this box form a system in which each element has its own ends and all the elements, gathered and linked, seek the same shared goal: offer recreational materials that encourage introspective reflection, the best knowledge of the other and the environment, the collaborative study, the participation of different agents of the community in support of teachers, the use of mother tongues and the identification of resources, knowledge, talents and skills in local communities. This box is addressed in a special way to teachers and students of basic education, as well as to different agents of the civil society that support them. Its purpose is to favor the development of school communities that make the school a center of study, play, advice and work for all. Because the materials of the Toolbox can also be interesting to young people and adults of all ages. In this sense, the box invites the different agents of the communities to think and produce new playful-educational materials that collect and put into action some priority local contents, which, surely, will enrich the life and educational possibilities of school communities. Caja de Herramientas en Educación para la Paz Year of publication: 2013 Author: Luz Marfa Chapela Corporate author: UNESCO Mexico Los componentes de esta caja forman un sistema en el que cada elemento tiene sus propios fines y todos los elementos, reunidos y vinculados, buscan un mismo fin compartido: ofrecer materiales lúdicoeducativos que propicien la reflexión introspectiva, el mejor conocimiento del otro y del entorno, el estudio colaborativo, la participación de distintos agentes de la comunidad en apoyo a los maestros, el uso de las lenguas maternas y la identificación de recursos, saberes, talentos y habilidades en las comunidades locales. Esta caja se dirige de manera especial a maestros y estudiantes de educación básica, así como a distintos agentes de la sociedad civil que los apoyan. Tiene entre sus propósitos favorecer el desarrollo de comunidades escolares que hagan de la escuela un centro de estudio, juego, asesoría y trabajo para todos. Porque los materiales de la Caja de Herramientas también pueden resultar interesantes a jóvenes y adultos de todas las edades. En este sentido, la caja invita a los distintos agentes de las comunidades a pensar y producir nuevos materiales lúdico-educativos que recojan y pongan en acción algunos contenidos locales prioritarios, mismos que, seguramente, enriquecerán la vida y las posibilidades educativas de las comunidades escolares. 
Education and Social Cohesion in Latin America: A Micro-political Perspective Year of publication: 2014 Author: Silvina Gvirtz | Jason Beech Corporate author: Universidad de San Andrés | Arizona State University This article analyses the relation between education and social cohesion in Latin America from a micropolitical perspective. Even though we acknowledge the relevance of the macro and mezzo levels, we argue that the political decisions that are made at the school level are crucial to understand the contribution of educational systems to social cohesion. We suggest that the relation between social cohesion and school micropolitics can be analysed in two dimensions: the first is related to the access and permanence of children in school, while the second is related to the curriculum. The article concentrates on the second level by analysing the relation between the curriculum and social cohesion from a local, a national, and a global perspective. Sin desconocer la importancia de los niveles macro e intermedio, se sugiere que las decisiones políticas que se toman en el nivel escolar son fundamentales para entender la contribución que hace el sistema educativo a la cohesión social. Sostenemos que existen dos niveles para pensar la cohesión social en la micropolítica de la escuela en América Latina: uno vinculado al acceso y permanencia de los niños y jóvenes en la institución y uno curricular. Tomando como eje el segundo de los niveles mencionados, proponemos que en términos del alcance de la cohesión social, la relación entre este concepto y la escuela puede ser pensada en tres dimensiones: la global, la nacional y la local. 
[Summary] Re|shaping Cultural Policies: Advancing Creativity for Development; 2005 Convention Global Report, 2018: Summary Year of publication: 2017 Corporate author: UNESCO The Global Report series has been designed to monitor the implementation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005). It also provides evidence of how this implementation process contributes to attaining the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and targets.The 2018 Global Report analyses progress achieved in implementing the 2005 Convention since the first Global Report was published in 2015.Grounded in the analysis of the Quadrennial Periodic Reports submitted by Parties to the Convention and relevant new findings, this report examines how the 2005 Convention has inspired policy change at the global and country level in ten areas of monitoring. It puts forward a set of policy recommendations for the future, addressing the adaptation of cultural policies to rapid change in the digital environment, based on human rights and fundamental freedoms.When deployed together, the two editions of the Global Report are beginning to produce new and valuable evidence to inform cultural policy making and advance creativity for development. [Resumen] Re|pensar las políticas culturales: creatividad para el desarrollo, Convención de 2005 Informe Mundial 2018: resumen Year of publication: 2017 Corporate author: UNESCO Concebida para efectuar el seguimiento de la aplicación de la Convención de la UNESCO sobre la Protección y la Promoción de la Diversidad de las Expresiones Culturales (2005), esta serie de Informes Mundiales también proporciona pruebas de cómo el proceso de aplicación de esta Convención contribuye a la consecución de las metas fijadas en los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible de la Agenda para 2030 de las Naciones Unidas.En el Informe Mundial 2018 se examinan los progresos realizados en la aplicación de la Convención de 2005 desde la publicación del primer Informe en 2015.Basándose en un análisis de los informes periódicos cuadrienales presentados por las Partes en la Convención, así como en los resultados pertinentes de recientes investigaciones, el presente Informe muestra cómo la Convención de 2005 ha contribuido a hacer evolucionar las políticas culturales a nivel nacional y mundial en diez ámbitos.
