Education for Global Citizenship: Promoting Democracy Year of publication: 2019 Author: Manuela Mesa Corporate author: Autonomous University of Madrid | Red Iberoamericana de Investigación sobre Cambio y Eficacia Escolar (RINACE) This paper makes a reflection on the role of education in the current international context, marked by profound changes and by a situation of uncertainty and instability and reverse in rights. It discusses the various interpretative frameworks that explain the current world and that are articulated around the global-local axis and ethnic-national identities and multiple identities. In a world characterized by the complexity and speed of changes, it is very important to overcome the the compartmentalization of knowledge in areas such as mathematics, social, language, etc and look for global approaches. Education as a transformative practice cannot be outside of the major challenges facing humanity at the national and multilateral. The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals gives opportunities for the consolidation of the Education for Global Citizenship. 
The Effects of AI on the Working Lives of Women Year of publication: 2022 Author: Clementine Collett | Gina Neff | Livia Gouvea Gomes Corporate author: UNESCO | Inter-American Development Bank | Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) The use of AI technologies will affect women’s opportunities for work, and their position, status and treatment in the workplace. Around the globe, women in the labour force earn less than men, spend more time undertaking unpaid child- and elder-care jobs, hold fewer senior positions, participate less in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, and tend to hold more precarious jobs overall. In harnessing AI, governments, institutions and companies must narrow gender gaps rather than perpetuate or exacerbate them. This report, by the IDB, OECD and UNESCO, outlines current knowledge of the impact that AI systems have on women’s opportunities for work, and their position, treatment and status in the workforce. It does so by exploring how AI is used within and outside the workplace, and how it could be used in the future. It looks at the potential impact of new and emerging AI technologies on the skills that employers will require, on how women look for and are hired for jobs, and on how jobs are structured through automated monitoring and oversight. The report maps the opportunities and challenges that AI presents for the working lives of women and highlights the complexities that varying national and regional contexts present for understanding the impact of AI on the work of women. The report also notes that current research does not offer a complete or definite picture of how AI impacts the working lives of women and calls for further research and analysis in this area.

How does it work? And more importantly, how does it find its way into the judicial context? Technologies such as AI have been around for decades, but only recently have they begun to be used in a variety of justice and law enforcement settings. While AI has immense potential for the justice system, helping judges make better decisions, improving efficiency, increasing access, and helping to detect and prevent crime, there are also some important issues that justice stakeholders should consider as they prepare for a future in which AI is increasingly used in justice systems.In 2022, UNESCO launched two needs assessments. First, through UNESCO’s Artificial Intelligence Needs Assessment Survey in Africa, 90% of the 32 countries surveyed requested capacity building support for the Judiciary on AI. At the same time, a second global survey of judicial actors in 100 countries underlined the need for better understanding the use of AI in the administration of justice and its wider legal implications on societies.The “Global Toolkit on AI and the Rule of Law” for the Judiciary responds to these needs and provides judicial actors (judges, prosecutors, state attorneys, public lawyers, law universities and judicial training institutions) with the knowledge and tools necessary to understand the benefits and risks of AI in their work. The toolkit will assist judicial actors in mitigating the potential human rights risks of AI by providing guidance on the relevant international human rights laws, principles, rules and emerging jurisprudence that underpin the ethical use of AI.

Building Democratic Citizenship in School: Memory and Human Rights Year of publication: 2021 Corporate author: Argentina. Ministry of Education | Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) | Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) This material seeks to reflect on the ways of approaching the construction of democratic citizenship, memory and human rights in secondary schools. The book thus proposes a series of memory activities and exercises based on significant historical sources and documents. At the same time, guidelines and suggestions are presented for the development of a citizenship construction project as a teaching strategy. 
The World's Largest Flower: Resource Guide Year of publication: 2023 Corporate author: Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) The creation of a pedagogical resource for Education for Global Citizenship, based on the story “The Largest Flower in the World”, written by José Saramago, arose on the occasion of the Commemorations of the Centennial of the Birth of José Saramago 2021-2022, as part of the activities of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) in Portugal and was promoted by the José Saramago Foundation (FJS) and the General Directorate of Education (DGE). To carry out the project, an alliance was made with Help Images, which produced the four videos that accompany the proposal. The activities aim to support the work of teachers, educators and animators within the framework of formal and non-formal education, in the construction of learning for a committed, coherent, supportive and respectful global citizenship of human rights, crossing the experiences of the students with the themes and contents presented in this proposal. 
Manual on Citizenship Competencies: Citizenship Academy Project Year of publication: 2020 Corporate author: Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) | Panamanian Debate Association (ASPADE) | Eduardo Morgan Foundation (FUNDAMORGAN) The Citizen Competencies Manual is a tool for facilitators of the Ibero-American Education Program in human rights, democracy and citizenship. Citizen Academy is an initiative led by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) with the Panamanian Debate Association (ASPADE) and the Eduardo Morgan Foundation (FUNDAMORGAN). Within the Citizen Academy Program, various initiatives have been developed, all focused on the importance of citizen participation and the development of skills that contribute to the personal and professional growth of the participants. In this manual, teachers and trainers will be able to find a roadmap to learn and teach their students about: i) citizenship skills, ii) debate and democracy, iii) culture of legality, iv) good governance, v) human rights , vi) equity and diversity and vii) peaceful conflict resolution and the ImPacta methodology.

New Citizenship, Culture of Peace and Democratic Integration: Pedagogical Guidelines and Didactic Proposals Year of publication: 2015 Corporate author: Argentina. Ministry of Education | Chile. Ministry of Education This document is an input that, in the form of a guide of pedagogical guidelines and teaching proposals, seeks to support the development of the objectives of the New Citizenship, Culture of Peace and Democratic Integration Program, promoted by the Ministry of Education of Argentina and the Ministry of Education of Chile. The first section corresponds to an introductory section, which communicates the principles on which the program is based. The second section is made up of the axes and chapters that structure the guide. Each axis (four in total) is subdivided into two chapters, articulated around the topic that the axis addresses and which is briefly presented at the beginning of it.
