Readiness for Education for the Future: A Safe and Sustainable Return to Teaching and Learning Year of publication: 2021 Corporate author: Regional Center for Quality and Excellence in Education (RCQE) Predicting the future of quality education is a complex process, but it is an inevitable necessity, and anticipation and preparation for every new and changing must be the goal of education in its present and future. Today, education in all countries of the world faces unprecedented challenges, most notably the Corona pandemic, Covid-19, in conjunction with previous challenges of acceleration in knowledge and technological development, as well as economic crises and conflicts in some countries, unfamiliar contexts that made this symposium review the issue of education and its safe return to it after Corona pandemic.

SDG-4: Flexible Learning Pathways in Higher Education – from Policy to Practice: An International Comparative Analysis Year of publication: 2022 Author: Michaela Martin | Uliana Furiv Corporate author: UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) Higher education systems across the world are currently faced with a massive influx of learners with more diverse needs. They are expected to respond to this growing diversity through a more flexible learning offer and pathways that allow all learners, including those from disadvantaged groups, to access, progress through, and complete, higher education.To enhance knowledge on how to provide increased flexibility in higher education, IIEP–UNESCO undertook an international research project on SDG-4: Planning for Flexible Learning Pathways (FLPs) in Higher Education. The project included a stocktaking of policies, instruments, and practices, an international survey among UNESCO Member States, and eight in-depth country studies on Chile, Finland, India, Jamaica, Malaysia, Morocco, South Africa, and the UK.This book presents the findings from the research, including a cross-country analysis of available FLP policies and practices, and how they enhance equitable higher education systems. It also presents a series of country experiences with innovative approaches to alternative entry, flexible progression, and governance systems in support of FLPs.

As an authorized national focal point of SDG data, the Statistics Research Institute has been publishing a 『Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Korea: Progress Report』 annually, in keeping with their vision of providing support for ‘eviꠓdence-based decision-making’.『SDG in the Republic of Korea: Progress Report 2023』, released this, was designed as a compass identifying goals to be prioritized in policy implementation during the remaining period until 2030 to keep pace for achieving the SDGs. It is recommended that each country build its own implementation mechanism, which sets its own policy goals and targets, tailored to its respective national context. South Korea established the ‘National Sustainable Development Goals (K-SDGs)’ in 2018, consisting of 17 policy goals and 122 targets. In 2020, the country prepared the Fourth Basic Plan for Sustainable Development (2021-2040). The K-SDGs were revised and supplemented in consideration of recent changes in conditions.This study aims to develop a national K-SDGs strategy by examining factors that threaten sustainable development, with a focus on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Synergy Solutions for a World in Crisis: Tackling Climate and SDG Action Together Year of publication: 2023 Corporate author: UNFCCC | UN. Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN. DESA) In May 2023 UNDESA and UNFCCC Secretariat co-convened the Expert Group on Climate and SDG Synergy. The Group consists of 14 renowned experts from diverse thematic and geographic backgrounds who were given the task of developing the First Global Report on Climate and SDG Synergies. This report demonstrates that aggressively acting on climate and development in an integrated and synergistic way is an important opportunity to achieve the course correction the UN Secretary- General has called for. It highlights some of the challenges but also the opportunities if the international community is seriously committed to enhancing these synergies and thereby addressing these challenges. The report is designed to provide a broad overview of available data and evidence, insights from experts on the frontlines, and recommendations for enhancing synergistic action across the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. This first edition will form the basis for future iterations, which will entail a wider scope of sectors, and thematic areas and deep dives on specific issues pertaining to strengthening and operationalizing synergic climate and SDG actions at all levels.
