Social media has significantly amplified the spread of such harmful content, including Holocaust denial and distortion. These falsehoods, rooted in antisemitic prejudice and conspiratorial thinking, threaten our shared historical memory and promote hatred. To effectively combat these issues, it is essential to have a comprehensive understanding of the Holocaust —how and why the genocide of the Jewish people occurred. This knowledge helps us recognize the causes and risk factors, contributing to the prevention of future atrocity crimes and the fight against antisemitism. In the digital age, it is also imperative to be able to decipher the manipulation of history, and the misrepresentation of the past.The guide provides teachers with the necessary tools and guidance to prevent the spread of Holocaust denial and distortion. Bringing Living Heritage to the Classroom in Asia-Pacific: A Resource Kit Year of publication: 2022 Corporate author: UNESCO Bangkok | APCEIU | International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in Asia and the Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) Integrating living heritage in school teaching and learning can enhance education quality, enliven the experiences of students and teachers, and contribute to keeping this heritage alive for current and future generations. In addition, as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has also demonstrated, living heritage can play an important role in ensuring the well-being and resilience of communities. UNESCO encourages countries to safeguard living heritage through formal and non-formal education. From the end of 2019 to early 2022, UNESCO has been working with partners to implement a pilot project “Teaching and Learning with Living Heritage in Schools” in six countries in Asia and the Pacific - including Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Republic of Korea and Thailand. Over 1900 students from 21 schools had the opportunity to participate in these innovative classes. Integrating education for sustainable development (ESD) in teacher education in South-East Asia: a guide for teacher educators Year of publication: 2018 Corporate author: UNESCO Bangkok This publication is a cumulative output of the project Sustainability Begins with Teachers in South-East Asia, implemented by UNESCO Bangkok, in cooperation with SEAMEO from 2017 to 2018, with the generous support of the Government of Japan. The initial content was developed together with the representatives of the universities and teacher education institutions who participated in the South-East Asia Sub-Regional Workshop on Education for Sustainable Development for Teacher Education Institutions, held from 5 to 9 June 2017 in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Content has since been enhanced through the sharing of knowledge and experiences gathered from a series of in-country workshops held in Cebu, Philippines; Luang Prabang, Lao PDR; Kampot, Cambodia; Bangkok, Thailand; and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. This culminated in a project review workshop in Bangkok from 24 to 26 April 2018 in which different in-country experiences were shared and comments on the guidebook collected. Twenty-six universities and teacher education institutions have taken part in the project process in total. This guidebook is a result of this collaborative journey. Transformative Pedagogy for Peace-building: A Guide for Teachers Year of publication: 2017 Corporate author: UNESCO International Institute for Capacity-Building in Africa (IICBA) This publication is a guide for teachers and teacher trainers on transformative pedagogy so that they are able to empower youth with peace-building knowledge, skills and competencies necessary to develop into advocates and actors of peace.The guide particularly aims to introduce teachers to the foundation of conflict analysis and peace-building and to equip them with a learner-centered approach to peace education and community engagement.This guide is a resource for educators to engage and support youth in their journey to becoming active peace-builders and fostering transformation in the Horn of Africa and Surrounding Countries.
