Greening Education Partnership: Getting Every Learner Climate-Ready Year of publication: 2024 Corporate author: UNESCO Bangkok The UN Secretary-General calls the climate crisis ‘a battle for our lives’, as we still struggle to transform our societies to reach the 1.5°C-degree path recommended by the Paris Agreement. Rapid and radical transformation at all levels and in many aspects of our life is required, with education as a central and powerful means to support the adaptation and strengthening of the resilience of learners and societies. It is also important to ensure that education systems become more resilient to climate change to create safe and climate-proof schools. Building off of the knowledge and practice accumulated in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), a new Greening Education Partnership aims to deliver strong, coordinated and comprehensive action which will prepare every learner to acquire the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes to tackle climate change and to promote sustainable development. 
Promouvoir l’éducation et la protection de la petite enfance en situations d’urgence sensibles au climat Year of publication: 2023 Corporate author: Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) Ce document est destiné au secteur de l’éducation en situations d’urgence, mais il est pertinent pour toutes celles et ceux qui s’intéressent aux questions relatives aux enfants, car le changement climatique affecte le développement de l’enfant dans tous les contextes. Les approches présentées dans ce document peuvent aider les systèmes éducatifs dans des contextes non urgents à être mieux préparés et résilients face au climat. C’est pourquoi ce document décrit les interventions multisectorielles en matière d’EPPE qui peuvent servir de solutions à des objectifs plus larges d’atténuation du changement climatique et d’adaptation au changement climatique. Ces actions visent à trouver des solutions à long terme pour réduire l’exposition des enfants aux risques liés au changement climatique. L’objectif de ces solutions à long terme est de créer de nouvelles façons de penser, d’être et d’agir adaptées au climat, en se concentrant sur l’attention portée aux autres et à la Terre, et en renforçant la résilience climatique des enfants et des systèmes de prise en charge qui les soutiennent.

Revision Process of the 1974 Recommendation concerning Education for International Understanding, Co-operation and Peace and Education relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms: Compilation of Member State Comments Year of publication: 2023 Corporate author: UNESCO Adopted in 1974, the Recommendation concerning education for international understanding, co-operation and peace and education relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms is considered a landmark legal instrument that brings together for the first time peace, international understanding, human rights, fundamental freedoms and education. As per Circular letter 4401, the preliminary report and the first draft of the revised 1974 Recommendation were transmitted to Member States for their written comments and observations. These written comments were taken into consideration by the Director-General when preparing the revised second draft of the Recommendation to be discussed at the Intergovernmental Special Committee Meeting (Category II), in view of its submission to the 42nd session of the General Conference in November 2023 and eventual adoption.

Supporting Child Nutrition and Sustainable Development through International Collaboration Year of publication: 2023 Author: Wang Luo | Chen Xiaoning | Huang Yangmu Corporate author: Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation(CAID) | United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Child health and nutrition are key goals under the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. Currently, around 45% of deaths among children under five years of age are linked to undernutrition. These mostly occur in low- and middle-income countries. In June 2023, the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation (CAITEC) and the UNICEF China Office convened a forum on “Supporting Child Nutrition and Sustainable Development Through International Co-operation”. Participating experts discussed China’s experience, and the potential presented, and challenges faced by Chinese product, in boosting the improvement of child nutrition in impoverished regions of Africa and Asia. The case study is a summary of the views presented at the forum. Study on International Development Cooperation for Children Year of publication: 2023 Corporate author: Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation International development cooperation for children is vital to safeguarding child rights. With support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation conducted a study on international development cooperation for children. This report presents case studies on international development cooperation for children among four top donors, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany. It examines the different contexts, strategies, policies, institutional mechanisms, and challenges related to international development cooperation for children and revealed several notable characteristics of international development cooperation for children. The study analyzed the evolution of China’s international development cooperation model for children in the past few decades. Bilingual and Intercultural Border Schools Project: A Cross-Border and Integrative Project in the Iberian Peninsula(Revista iberoamericana de educación; vol. 93, no. 1) Year of publication: 2023 Author: María Matesanz del Barrio | Maria Helena Araújo e Sá | Vivianne Ferreira Martins Corporate author: Revista Iberoamericana de Educación The Bilingual and Intercultural Border Schools Project / Projecto de Escuelas Bilingües e Interculturales de Frontera (PEBIF) is a proposal that seeks to promote inter-cultural education supported by the bi-/multilingualism and intercomprehension. The general objective of the project is to promote cooperation between Spain and Portugal in the educational, social and economic development of the border territories through the creation of a network of schools that pro-vides the populations knowledge and skills associated with bilingualism and interculturality relevant to citizenship, continuation of studies and employability in both countries. This article presents the PEBIF project, both its structuring theoretical principles and the implementation carried out, as well as the most relevant results obtained so far.
