When Feeling and Action Come Together in Educational Practice. Relations Between Development Education and Learning Service for a Global Citizenship Year of publication: 2016 Author: Yolanda Fernández Carrión | Mª Jesús Martínez Usarralde The difficulties based on the development are a usual topic in education. After emphasizing the relevance of the development education as an essential element for the construction of the global citizenship, the challenge stands out by its innovative intention of trying to implicate it with service learning. This one tries to be an explorative and interpretative theoretic analyses about the potentialities which can be provided by service learning in the achievement of the objectives planned by the development education. This correlation not only affects the substantial improvement of both practices by building positive synergies but also its universalization forms a clear positive influence in the endogenous development of the village people, carrying out the real empowerment of the critical, sensible and global citizenship. The possibility of giving the main role as a human developmental engine to education is within our reach and the union between development education and service learning teaches us the keys. Alianzas entre educación para el desarrollo y aprendizaje servicio para una ciudadanía global Year of publication: 2016 Author: Yolanda Fernández Carrión | Mª Jesús Martínez Usarralde Las problemáticas basadas en el desarrollo constituyen un tema recurrente en educación. Tras resaltar la relevancia de la Educación para el Desarrollo (EpD) como elemento fundamental en la construcción de una ciudadanía global, el objetivo de este artículo consiste en relacionarla con una cultura educativa, el Aprendizaje Servicio (ApS). Éste pretende ser, así, un análisis teórico exploratorio e interpretativo sobre las potencialidades que puede aportar el ApS en la consecución de las metas planteadas por la EpD. Esta vinculación no sólo repercute en la mejora substancial de la práctica de ambas creando sinergias positivas, sino que su universalización constituye una clara incidencia positiva en el desarrollo endógeno de los pueblos, llevando a la práctica el empoderamiento real de la ciudadanía crítica, reflexiva y global. La posibilidad de otorgar el papel relevante que posee la educación como motor de desarrollo humano está a nuestro alcance: la alianza entre EpD y APS nos muestran las claves. 
A Transdisciplinary Biomimetic Perspective on Global Citizenship Education Year of publication: 2016 Author: Javier Collado Ruano Corporate author: University of the Andes This paper reflects on the Global Citizenship Edu- cation (GCE) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) discussed in 2015 during the Second UNESCO Forum on Global Citizenship Education in January, the Second Global Education Forum in May and the Millenium Summit in September. The study is supported by a transdisciplinary methodolo- gy and the biomimetic principles in order to streng- then the bonds between education and sustainabili- ty. As a result, this research identifies the operational principles that constitute the interdependence of ecosystems in order to make a biomimetic imple- mentation in the social, political and educational structure in human systems. To conclude, three pro- posals to achieve SDGs are given. Una perspectiva transdisciplinar y biomimética de la educación para la ciudadanía mundial Year of publication: 2016 Author: Javier Collado Ruano Corporate author: University of the Andes El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la Educación para la Ciudadanía Mundial (ECM) y los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS) discutidos en 2015 durante el 2o Foro de la UNESCO de ECM de enero, el 2o Foro Mundial de Educación de mayo y la Cumbre del Milenio de septiembre. El estudio se apoya en la metodología transdisciplinar y el principio de biomímesis con el propósito de reforzar los lazos entre la educación y la sostenibilidad. Como resultado, el trabajo identifica los principios operacionales que constituyen la interdependencia de los ecosistemas para hacer una aplicación biomimética en las estructuras sociales, políticas y educativas de los sistemas humanos. Para concluir, se realizan tres propuestas para contribuir a alcanzar los ODS. 
Global citizenship: from public support to active participation Year of publication: 2012 Author: Christine Carabain | Shelena Keulemans | Marije van Gent | Gabi Spitz Corporate author: National Committee for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development (NCDO) This publication explores the concept of global citizenship by drawing on the most relevant, mainly scientific, literature. This exploration will in the coming years be the basis for NCDO’s programmes in the area of research, staff training, and knowledge sharing. NCDO has the important task of engaging people in these two major changes in perspective: what does it mean, how important is it to us, how can we contribute to it? NCDO considers it its responsibility to raise awareness amongst Dutch citizens of the growing connection and mutual dependency between people across the globe, as well as to make them aware of the opportunities they have to help tackle global issues. In other words: NCDO aims to advance the global dimension of citizenship in the Netherlands. But what exactly is that global dimension of citizenship? Despite growing awareness of the importance of global citizenship, a clear and broadly accepted definition of the concept is still lacking (Hart, 2011). To date the concept is often explained by using examples and focus areas. This publication will present the definition of global citizenship that NCDO will employ in the coming period. Cette exploration dans les années à venir sera la base pour les programmes de NCDO dans le domaine de la recherche, la formation du personnel, et le partage des connaissances. NCDO a la tâche importante d'engager les gens dans ces deux grands changements en perspective: qu'est-ce que cela veut dire, combien il est important pour nous, comment pouvons-nous y contribuer? NCDO estime qu'il lui incombe de sensibiliser les citoyens néerlandais de la connexion croissante et la dépendance mutuelle entre les peuples à travers le monde, ainsi que pour leur faire connaître les possibilités qu'ils ont pour aider à résoudre les problèmes mondiaux. En d'autres termes: NCDO vise à faire progresser la dimension globale de la citoyenneté aux Pays-Bas. Mais qu'est-ce que la dimension mondiale de la citoyenneté? Malgré la prise de conscience de l'importance de la citoyenneté mondiale, une définition claire et largement acceptée du concept fait toujours défaut (Hart, 2011). À ce jour, le concept est souvent expliqué à l'aide des exemples et des domaines d'intervention. Cette publication présentera la définition de la citoyenneté mondiale qui NCDO emploiera dans la période à venir. 
Global Citizenship: A Study on the Socio-political Identities in an Interconnected World Year of publication: 2017 Author: Antonio Martín-Cabello This paper aims to study the possible emergence of a new type of citizenship: global citizenship. For some time much of the literature in social science has related a weakening of nation-state and national-citizenship as a result of the globalization process. The consequence would be an increase in cosmopolitanism and emergence of a global citizenship identity. This, in principle, would be especially pronounced amongst the most globalized groups. The paper discusses two of these: backpackers and corporate expatriates. However, we show here that contradictory features arise when the available empirical evidence is studied. Both backpackers and corporate expatriates share a cosmopolitan rhetoric that has no clear correlation with the areas of social practice. Ciudadanía global. Un estudio sobre las identidades sociopolíticas en un mundo interconectado Year of publication: 2017 Author: Antonio Martín-Cabello Este artículo pretende realizar un estudio sobre la posible aparición de un nuevo tipo de ciudadanía: la ciudadanía global. Buena parte de la bibliografía de ciencias sociales lleva tiempo anunciando el debilitamiento del estado-nación y de la ciudadanía nacional como resultado del proceso de globalización. La consecuencia sería el aumento del cosmopolitismo y la emergencia de una identidad ciudadana global. Esta sería, en principio, especialmente acusada entre los colectivos más globalizados. En el artículo se analizarán dos: los mochileros y los expatriados corporativos. Sin embargo, se intentará mostrar que cuando se utiliza la evidencia empírica disponible existen rasgos contradictorios. Tanto los mochileros como los expatria- dos corporativos comparten una retórica cosmopolita que no tiene un correlato tan claro en la esfera de las prácticas.
