Governing AI for Humanity: Final Report Year of publication: 2024 Corporate author: United Nations (UN) The United Nations Secretary-General’s High-level Advisory Body on AI’s Final Report, “Governing AI for Humanity,” builds on months of work, including extensive global consultations, and the publication of an interim report in December 2023. Proposals for Global Governance on AI This report outlines a blueprint for addressing AI-related risks and sharing its transformative potential globally, including by:• Urging the UN to lay the foundations of the first globally inclusive and distributed architecture for AI governance based on international cooperation;• Proposing seven recommendations to address gaps in current AI governance arrangements;• Calling on all governments and stakeholders to work together in governing AI to foster development and protection of all human rights. This includes light institutional mechanisms to complement existing efforts and foster inclusive global AI governance arrangements that are agile, adaptive and effective to keep pace with AI’s evolution. Extensive Global Consultations The report is the product of extensive consultations, involving more than 2,000 participants across all regions of the world, including via: • 18 deep-dive discussions on key issues with top experts• More than 50 consultation sessions across all regions• More than 250 written submissions from over 150 organizations and 100 individuals The Advisory Body also commissioned an AI Risk Global Pulse Check – the most comprehensive global horizon scanning exercise on AI risks to date – and an AI Opportunity Scan to crowdsource expert assessments of emerging AI trends. 
World Youth Report: Youth and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Year of publication: 2018 Corporate author: United Nations (UN) The World Youth Report on “Youth and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, prepared by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), examines the mutually supportive roles of the new agenda and current youth development efforts. The report provides insight into the role of young people in sustainable development in the context of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and related frameworks, in particular, the Addis Ababa Action Agenda of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development and the World Programme of Action for Youth.The Report considers the role the 2030 Agenda can play in enhancing youth development efforts and examines how evidence-based youth policies can help accelerate youth-related objectives. It explores the critical role young people have in the implementation of sustainable development efforts at all levels. 
Gender and Recovery Toolkit: Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Crisis and Recovery Settings; Updated 2024 Year of publication: 2024 Corporate author: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) The Gender and Recovery toolkit is a practical resource in the hands of UNDP personnel to help government, civil society and other partners put gender equality at the core of immediate and long-term recovery processes. It shows how to incorporate gender perspectives and women’s participation throughout the recovery programme cycle – from assessment, strategic planning and framing of results to budgeting and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.The toolkit emphasizes the need to address the root causes of gender inequality and fragility by transforming power dynamics. It advocates for approaches that go beyond increasing women’s representation, focusing on tackling masculinities and reshaping institutions, behaviors, and norms. It underscores the importance of holistic strategies to address the interconnected challenges of climate change, peacebuilding, and gender equality in crisis contexts, highlighting the role of technology and innovative programming in empowering women. The seven guidance notes and tip sheets incorporate recent updates to global policy frameworks with updated indicators and robust data sources. While primarily designed for UNDP practitioners, this resource is valuable for all partners in crisis and recovery settings. 
South Africa SDG Push Framework: Unlocking New Pathways to SDG Acceleration Year of publication: 2024 Corporate author: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) SDG Push is about realizing development ambition and redefining how we build acceleration pathways. It helps pinpoint policy choices that ‘move the needle’ towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. A UNDP flagship initiative, SDG Push uses digital and data innovation, systems thinking, and futures approaches to provide a comprehensive and country-specific tool to plan and implement SDG breakthroughs in a variety of development contexts. SDG Acceleration Pathways, specific to context and need, were co-created in collaboration with Indonesia, Moldova, Namibia, Peru and South Africa. These pilots helped to refine the SDG Push approach and the digital SDG Push Diagnostic and formed the foundation of the Integrated SDG Insights Reports, presented at the 2023 SDG Summit. This integrated, modular approach includes the analysis of development trends and priorities with data visualization, integrating generative dialogue, foresight methods and economic modelling to assess the impact of potential accelerators.

SDG Pulse 2024: The Pulse of Progress Towards the Sustainable Development Goals Year of publication: 2024 Corporate author: United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) The SDG Pulse reveals progress in various areas, but setbacks continue to undermine momentum. Economic and social distress, particularly for those most in need, is exacerbated by the war in Ukraine, and in Gaza, leading to longer and more expensive trade routes, increased hunger and food insecurity, and rising CO2 emissions, impacting developing countries’ ability to meet the SDGs, and the need for reliable information becomes even more critical. SDG Pulse serves three main purposes: firstly, to update on the evolution of selected official SDG indicators and complementary data and statistics; second, to report on progress in developing new concepts and methodologies for SDG indicators for which UNCTAD is a global custodian; and third, to showcase UNCTAD’s support to member States in implementing the 2030 Agenda. Building on the previous edition, SDG Pulse continues to track progress according to four transformations identified at UNCTAD’s intergovernmental meeting in Bridgetown (UNCTAD, 2021). The report also delves into thematic issues relevant to the 2030 Agenda bringing to the forefront key messages related to trade and multilateralism, development finance, economic diversification, and sustainability and resilience. This year’s In-Focus topic explores gender equality in trade. Despite global advancements, gender inequality persists, affecting women's lives through economic participation, education, health, and political empowerment worldwide. UNCTAD’s new gender equality in trade indicator set helps illuminate gender gaps in trade to inform effective policy actions and accelerate just and equal development. This overview provides a glance at recent developments and analysis related to sustainable development.

This capacity-building tool seeks to support States and particularly border officials in adopting a human rights-based and gender-responsive approach to border governance. Accompanying presentation slides and course materials have been developed for use in training courses or as a general information resource on the subject. 
Generation Equality Accountability Report 2022 Year of publication: 2022 Corporate author: United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) In the UN Decade for Action on Gender Equality, people around the world have pledged to move from rhetoric to action and to work together to drive lasting change, starting now. Through the 2021 Generation Equality Forum in Mexico and France, world leaders and partners committed to eliminating gender inequalities and to financing and implementing laws, policies, and programmes to meet priority actions and targets in a Global Acceleration Plan for Gender Equality. The aim is simple but profound: deliver irreversible, quantifiable results for women and girls in all their diversity.Together, commitment makers and signatories of a series of Action Coalitions, along with the Compact for Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action have begun to build an ambitious global movement. It unites diverse partners committed to collective accountability for women and girls. This accountability is the driving force of this report, which takes stock of the bold commitments made at the Forum one year into implementation. Through a survey of commitment-makers, the report sheds light on the nature of the commitments and assesses measurable progress. It highlights trends and notes where more work is needed.Generation Equality was born from the idea that the world could make catalytic progress on gender equality if a wide range of stakeholders united around a transformative vision and worked together to achieve it. These preliminary findings demonstrate that, while more remains to be done, collective action is powerful in making commitments real in the lives of women and girls.
