Notre diversité créatrice: rapport de la commission mondiale de la culture et du développement Year of publication: 1996 Corporate author: World Commission on Culture and Development This report is designed to address a diversified audience across the world that ranges from community activists, field workers, artists and scholars to government officials and politicians. We want it to inform the world’s opinion leaders and to guide its policy-makers. We want it to capture the attention of the world’s intellectual and artistic communities, as well as the general public. We aim to have shown them how culture shapes all our thinking, imagining and behaviour. It is the transmission of behaviour as well as a dynamic source for change, creativity, freedom and the awakening of innovative opportunities. For groups and societies, culture is energy, inspiration and empowerment, as well as the knowledge and acknowledgment of diversity: if cultural diversity is ‘behind us, around us and before us”, as Claude L&i-Strauss put it, we must learn how to let it lead not to the clash of cultures, but to their fruitful coexistence and to intercultural harmony. Just as in the tasks of building peace and consolidating democratic values, an indivisible set of goals, so too economic and political rights cannot be realized separately from social and cultural rights. The challenge to humanity is to adopt new ways of thinking, new ways of acting, new ways of organizing itself in society, in short, new ways of living. The challenge is also to promote different paths of development, informed by a recognition of how cultural factors shape the way in which societies conceive their own futures and choose the means to attain these futures. I have for some time been concerned with the “culture of peace”. There is now considerable evidence that neglect of human development has been one of the principal causes of wars and internal armed conflicts, and that these, in turn, retard human development. With government complicity and with the intention of raising export receipts, private businesses continue to sell advanced military technology, nuclear materials and equipment for the production of bacteriological and chemical warfare. The concept of state sovereignty which still prevails today has increasingly come under scrutiny. In the area of peace-keeping, the distinction between external aggression and internal oppression is often unrealistic. The predominant threat to stability are violent conflicts within countries and not between them. There is an urgent need to strengthen international human rights law. Many of the most serious troubles come from within states – either because of ethnic strife or repressive measures by governments. Conditions that lead to tyranny and large-scale violations of human rights at home sooner or later are likely to spill over into a search for enemies abroad. The temptation of repressive states to export internal difficulties is great. Consider the Soviet Union’s invasion of Hungary and Czechoslovakia after it had used domestic oppression and the persistent refusal - for many years - of the previous South African governments to grant independence to Namibia. An ounce of prevention is better than a ton of punishment. Tenir nos engagements en faveur de l'égalité des genres dans l'éducation: Rapport mondial de suivi sur l'éducation, résumé sur l'égalité des genres 2018 Year of publication: 2018 Corporate author: UNESCO Le Cadre d’action Éducation 2030, outil qui vise à aider la communauté internationale à atteindre l’ODD 4 sur l’éducation, reconnaît explicitement l’égalité des genres comme principe directeur lié à la réalisation du droit à l’éducation. Il stipule clairement que les filles et les garçons, les femmes et les hommes, doivent bénéficier des mêmes possibilités « dans et par l’éducation ».Dans ce sixième résumé sur l’égalité des genres, qui fait partie d’une série qui a commencé en 2011, l’équipe du Rapport mondial de suivi sur l’éducation reste concentrée sur une large conception de l’égalité des genres, qui va au-delà du simple comptage du nombre de filles et de garçons dans les classes. As the SDG 4–Education 2030 Steering Committee meets in Paris, the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) has released this fact sheet, highlighting trends at the global and regional levels, to inform discussions and provide stakeholders with the data needed to target policies, strategies and resources to get all children, adolescents and youth in school and learning. It then focuses on specific groups in conflict – gender, language, refugees, child soldiers. Thirdly it discusses education policy and donor intervention; and finally talks of the role of research. All these overlap hugely. This is not a prescription for how the Global Monitoring Report should be structured, but identification of themes and lessons learned that seem the most significant. Global Citizenship Education: A Guide for Policymakers Year of publication: 2017 Author: Swee-Hin Toh | Gary Shaw | Danilo Padilla Corporate author: APCEIU In order to assist UNESCO Member States to integrate and strengthen Global Citizenship Education (GCED) in national education policies, strategies and plans to achieve SDG Target 4.7 effectively, the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) has developed and published Global Citizenship Education: A Guide for Policymakers (hereafter referred to as the Guide).The Guide is mainly divided into two parts. Part 1 provides an overview of GCED, including the following three sections: the background to GCED; the rationale for GCED; and the concept of GCED. In Part 2, various selection strategies which allow each country to incorporate GCED into its current education system aligned with its own priorities and context, were divided and suggested into five major policy areas as follow: policy review and development; curriculum review and development; capacity building; knowledge creation; sharing and dissemination; and monitoring and assessment.The Guide was first published in English and Korean and additional translations will be available in the future in other languages, including French and Arabic to provide access to more readers worldwide. The Mondialogo journey, begun as an exploratory exercise, ended with compelling and often moving experiences.  Final report of the workshop on how to promote the life-link friendship-schools programme in relation to UNESCO decades for culture of peace and education for sustainable development, Amman, Jordan, May 23-24, 2007 Year of publication: 2007 Corporate author: UNESCO Amman This chapter provides a brief summary of the speeches presented at the official opening and closing ceremonies as well as presentations delivered by the experts of Life-Link and UNESCO staff at the two day workshop The sub-regional workshop for ASPnet National Coordinators and Life-Link Friendship Schools Programme, organized in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education, was constructed according to the following format: (i). An organizing Committee was formed comprising of staff from the Ministry of Education and UNESCO Amman Office and Chairperson of Life-Link Programme. The committee oversaw the organization, preparation of documentation, venue, draft agenda, logistic and procedural aspects of the workshop. (ii). The selection of participants for the workshop was done by the National Commissions for UNESCO to Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, Oman and Jordan. The participating Arab Countries were selected by UNESCO Office-Amman and Life-Link. (iii).The selected participants comprised the National Coordinators and teachers for ASPnet in their countries. A member from Life-Link in Jordan was invited as an observer for the workshop. (iv).The resource persons (trainers) for the workshop were carefully selected on the basis of their expertise, experience and relevance to the main subjects of the workshop. The experts came from the Ministry of Education, Life-Link, UNESCO and UNRWA. (v). The format of the workshop was basically structured to firstly provide an overview and background of the Life-Link Friendship Schools Programme and ASPnet, followed by experts' presentations relevant to the main subjects of Life-Link Programme. The workshop also had three sessions of discussion on the different aspects of Life Link Programme. Participants were circulated to these sessions one after another. The workshop also had a session on how to plan for implementing peace actions as Extra Curricula Activities in schools. (vi). The ASPnet national workshop was organized under the patronage of his Excellency Dr. Khaled Toukan, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research and Chairman of the Jordan National Commission for UNESCO. Rapport final de l'atelier sur la façon de promouvoir le programme de liaison de vie amitié écoles par rapport aux décennies UNESCO pour la culture de la paix et de l'éducation pour le développement durable, Amman, Jordanie, 23 au 24 mai 2007 Year of publication: 2007 Corporate author: UNESCO Amman Ce chapitre présente un bref résumé des discours présentés lors de l'ouverture officielle et de clôture ainsi que les présentations faites par les experts de Life-Link et personnel de l'UNESCO à l'atelier de deux jours. L'atelier sous-régional pour réseau des coordonnateurs nationaux et de Life-Link Programme des Écoles Amitié, organisée en étroite collaboration avec le Ministère de l'éducation, a été construit selon le format suivant: (i). Un comité d'organisation a été formé, comprenant des membres du personnel du ministère de l'Education et le Bureau UNESCO à Amman et présidente programme Life-Link. Le comité a supervisé l'organisation, la préparation de la documentation, le lieu, le projet de l'ordre du jour, la logistique et les aspects procéduraux de l'atelier. (Ii). La sélection des participants de l'atelier a été fait par les Commissions nationales pour l'UNESCO au Liban, en Palestine, en Irak, en Egypte, à Oman et en Jordanie. Les pays arabes participants ont été sélectionnés par l'UNESCO Bureau-Amman et Life-Link. (Iii). Les participants sélectionnés comprennent les coordonnateurs nationaux et les enseignants pour Réseau dans leur pays. Un membre de la Life-Link en Jordanie a été invité à titre d'observateur à l'atelier. (Iv). Les personnes ressources (formateurs) pour l'atelier ont été soigneusement sélectionnés sur la base de leur expertise, de l'expérience et de la pertinence des principaux sujets de l'atelier. Les experts provenaient du ministère de l'Education, Life-Link, l'UNESCO et l'UNRWA. (V). Le format de l'atelier a été essentiellement structuré pour fournir d'abord une vue d'ensemble et contexte de Life-Link Programme Amitié Ecoles et Reseau, suivie par les présentations des experts compétents pour les sujets principaux programme Life-Link de. L'atelier a également eu trois séances de discussion sur les différents aspects du Programme Life Link. Les participants ont été distribués à ces sessions un après l'autre. L'atelier a également eu une séance sur la façon de planifier la mise en œuvre des actions de paix en tant Activités extra curricula dans les écoles. (Vi). L'atelier national a été organisé reseau sous le patronage de son excellence Dr. Khaled Toukan, Ministre de l'Éducation et le Ministre de l'Enseignement Supérieur et de la Recherche et Président de la Commission Nationale Jordanienne pour l'UNESCO Scientifique.
