Conferencia mundial de la UNESCO sobre la educación para el desarrollo sostenible, 31 de Marzo-2 de Abril 2009, Bonn, Alemania: actas Año de publicación: 2009 Autor corporativo: German National Commission for UNESCO | German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) As the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) approached its midpoint, the “UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development – Moving into the Second Half of the UN Decade” was held from 31 March to 2 April 2009 in Bonn, Germany. It brought together 900 participants from 147 countries, among them 49 Ministers and Deputy-Ministers. Participants included representatives of UNESCO Member States, UN agencies, civil society organizations, education institutions, youth, and the private sector, as well as individual experts. The Conference was organized by UNESCO and the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, in cooperation with the German Commission for UNESCO. The programme was developed in consultation with an international advisory group.

Escuelas en acción, ciudadanos del mundo para el desarrollo sostenible: guía para el profesorado Año de publicación: 2016 Autor corporativo: UNESCO The Global Citizens for Sustainable Development Teachers’ guide aims to introduce teachers to Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). It provides secondary school teachers with ideas and activities to help students become global citizens and sustainable development actors. The Teachers’ guide draws on the discussions and activities of almost 1,100 participants from 104 countries, including ASPnet National Coordinators, school principals, teachers, students and experts who contributed to the Online Collaborative Platform ASPnet in Action: Global Citizens Connected for Sustainable Development in 2014 and 2015 [http://en.unesco. org/aspnet/globalcitizens] with associated activities and initiatives. The Teachers’ guide provides: An overview of what it means for learners to become global citizens and of how learners can contribute to sustainable development. Ideas for classroom activities that can help secondary school students to develop knowledge, skills, values, attitudes and behaviours that promote GCED and ESD. Selected activities on GCED and ESD from ASPnet schools around the world. 
Educación para los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible: Objetivos de aprendizaje Año de publicación: 2017 Autor corporativo: UNESCO Desde 1992, la UNESCO ha promovido la Educación para el Desarrollo Sostenible (EDS). Entre 2005 y 2014, coordinó el Decenio de las Naciones Unidas de la EDS, y ahora está llevando a cabo el programa de seguimiento, el Programa de Acción Mundial sobre la EDS. El impulso de la EDS nunca ha sido más fuerte. Temas mundiales –como el cambio climático- requieren de forma urgente un cambio en nuestros estilos de vida y una transformación en nuestra forma de actuar y pensar. Para lograrlo, necesitamos nuevas competencias, actitudes y conductas que nos conduzcan a sociedades más sostenibles. Los sistemas educativos tienen que responder a esta necesidad a la hora de definir los objetivos y contenidos de aprendizaje pertinentes, introduciendo pedagogías que empoderen a los alumnos e instando a las instituciones a incluir los principios de sostenibilidad en sus estructuras de gestión. La nueva agenda mundial para el desarrollo sostenible 2030 refleja claramente esta visión de la importancia de una respuesta educativa apropiada. La educación está explícitamente formulada como un objetivo independiente en el Objetivo de Desarrollo Sostenible número 4. Metas e indicadores relacionados con la educación también están incluidos en otros ODS. La educación de calidad es tanto una meta en sí misma como un medio para lograr todos los otros ODS, porque es parte integral del desarrollo sostenible y un facilitador clave del mismo. Es por ello que la educación representa una estrategia esencial en la consecución de los ODS. Este documento ha sido diseñado para guiar a los profesionales de la educación en el uso de la EDS en el aprendizaje para los ODS y, en consecuencia, para lograr los ODS. Esta guía identifica objetivos específicos de aprendizaje y sugiere temas y actividades para cada ODS. También presenta métodos de implementación a distintos niveles, desde el diseño de cursos hasta las estrategias nacionales. Este documento no busca de ninguna forma ser prescriptivo, sino servir como una guía y ofrecer sugerencias que los educadores puedan seleccionar y adaptar a contextos específicos de aprendizaje.

Better education leads to greater prosperity, improved agriculture, better health outcomes, less violence, more gender equality, higher social capital and an improved natural environment. Education is key to helping people around the world understand why sustainable development is such a vital concept for our common future. Education gives us the key tools – economic, social, technological, even ethical – to take on the SDGs and to achieve them. The selection of countries was based on: i) work showcased at the 2009 World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development held in Bonn, Germany; ii) submissions to the monitoring and evaluation process for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD); as well as iii) through evaluation material submitted by UNESCO staff in regional bureaux of education. The countries showcased in this report are not necessarily the ‘best’ examples of the region, as many other countries are also progressing effectively towards implementing ESD. Rather, the countries selected illustrate the wide diversity of ESD approaches and initiatives taking place in different parts of the learnt world. The national studies were then edited and harmonized before common themes and lessons learned were identified to support other national efforts in moving towards the second half of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. Estrategia de la UNESCO para la segunda mitad del decenio de las Naciones Unidas de la educación para el desarrollo sostenible Año de publicación: 2010 Autor corporativo: UNESCO The UNESCO Strategy for the Second Half of the United Nations (UN) Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) draws on the findings and lessons learnt from the first phase of the DESD monitoring and evaluation (M&E) process (as reflected in the 2009 DESD M&E report Learning for a Sustainable World: Review of Contexts and Structures for Education for Sustainable Development. It also builds on the UNESCO World Conference on ESD and the Bonn Declaration as well as on the outcomes of other key international ESD meetings. The Bonn Declaration gives particular emphasis to the importance of education for the global development agenda and underlines the essential contribution of ESD to shaping the purpose, content and quality of all education. The UNESCO strategy will be implemented in line with the International Implementation Scheme (IIS), which, along with the Bonn Declaration, will provide the global strategic framework for UNESCO and its DESD partners during the second half of the Decade. The Strategy takes into account key DESD regional challenges and opportunities. It is also shaped by the shared vision of education emerging from the four 2008-2009 UNESCO international education conferences: one of education systems that encourage equity and inclusion, quality learning, flexibility and innovation. While UNESCO puts highest emphasis on achieving Education for All (EFA), the Organization’s actions in education extend beyond this, to pay explicit attention to inclusion, social cohesion and social justice, to lifelong learning and to the crucial role of higher education and research. The overall goal of the UNESCO Strategy for the Second Half of the DESD is to support Member States and other stakeholders in addressing global sustainable development challenges at regional, national and global level through ESD, thus addressing the challenges of learning for bringing about a more sustainable world.
