Education for Sustainable Development means including key sustainable development issues into teaching and learning; for example, climate change, disaster risk reduction, biodiversity, poverty reduction, and sustainable consumption. It also requires participatory teaching and learning methods that motivate and empower learners to change their behaviour and take action for sustainable development. Education for Sustainable Development consequently promotes competencies like critical thinking, imagining future scenarios and making decisions in a collaborative way. Education for Sustainable Development requires far-reaching changes in the way education is often practised today. UNESCO is the lead agency for the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). These good practices and shared experiences, which were provided by a range of different stakeholders, are concrete examples of successful implementation of ESD in different fields and sectors, from the political to the school level, and including formal, nonformal and informal learning situations. Buenas prácticas de educación para el desarrollo sostenible en materia de cambio climático Año de publicación: 2012 Autor corporativo: UNESCO Since the beginning of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD, 2005-2014), the DESD Secretariat at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris has received numerous requests for case studies and descriptions of good practices in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). These requests have increasingly included issues of providing an educational response to climate change. The increasing number of requests is only one indicator that climate change education is increasingly recognized in the broader education community as an essential part of ESD and life-long learning. ESD is a complex and evolving subject, and how it is applied and implemented is a challenge for all countries. The Decade aims to see ESD implemented in thousands of local situations on the ground, involving its integration into a multitude of different learning situations. These initiatives can be catalysts for action and contribute to the goals and objectives of the Decade. In such ways, organizations, local communities and individuals can be actors within the global movement for sustainable development. To support the growing interest in climate change issues and ESD, UNESCO is publishing this volume containing 17 examples of programmes addressing climate change in ESD settings and practices. Premio UNESCO-Japon de Educacion para el Desarrollo Sostenible: Galardonados de 2017 Año de publicación: 2017 Autor corporativo: UNESCO En 2017 el Premio UNESCO-Japon llegaba a su tercera edicion. Los galardonados fueron elegidos de entre las mas de 100 candidaturas presentadas por gobiernos de Estados Miembros de la UNESCO y organizaciones no gubernamentales quecolaboran oficialmente con la Organizacion. Tras examinar las candidaturas, un jurado independiente formado por cinco especialistas internacionales en EDS recomendo los tres galardonados a la Directora General de la UNESCO.Este ano se ha concedido el premio a una escuela, una empresa y una organizacion sin animo de lucro que promueven la EDS a escala local, regional y mundial respectivamente: la escuela de primaria Sihlengeni, de la Republica de Zimbabwe; Zikra por el Aprendizaje Popular, del Reino Hachemita de Jordania; y el Proyecto Hard Rain, del Reino Unido de Gran Bretana e Irlanda del Norte. Cada una de estas entidades recibira un premio en metalico de 50,000 dolares estadounidenses.La Directora General de la UNESCO y el Ministro de Educacion del Japon haran entrega del Premio a los tres galardonados en el curso de una ceremonia que tendra lugar en la Sede de la UNESCO (Paris) el 3 de noviembre de 2017, coincidiendo con la celebracion de la 39ª reunion de la Conferencia General.
