Evaluation of UNESCO’s Action to Prevent Violent Extremism Año de publicación: 2020 Autor corporativo: UNESCO Internal Oversight Service (IOS) The purpose of this evaluation was twofold. To provide evidence, ideas and insights on how UNESCO’s efforts on PVE in the period from 2015-2018 have contributed to enhancing UNESCO’s action and position in the PVE sphere in light of the decisions of Member States. And to provide evidence and formulate lessons learned and good practices on the intersectoral approach with the aim of informing what works and what does not work in intersectoral cooperation.The evaluation found that UNESCO’s work on PVE was context specific and adjusted to respond to the needs of the countries and sub-regions where the work was being implemented.UNESCO’s work is aligned with the agency’s mandate and expertise and makes the most of its strong relationships with government bodies and civil society actors. UNESCO’s work on PVE has led to positive results around the quality, use and effectiveness of guidance documents, around capacity building of UNESCO partners and stakeholders, and around the provision of expertise and policy advice both at national and global level. Using an intersectoral approach led to an increase in information sharing and coordination. However, this was not always translated to intersectoral implementation or delivery of PVE initiatives.

اتّجاهات طلبة الجامعات السّعوديّة نحو ثقافة السّلام Año de publicación: 2019 Autor: Rowaidah Abdulhameed Saman Autor corporativo: University of Jordan هدفت الدراسة الوقوف على اتجاهات طلبة الجامعات السعودية نحو ثقافة السلام، وتكونت عينة هذه الدراسة من 1643 طالبا وطالبة، واستخدام المنهج الوصفي المسحي، ولتحليل البيانات استخدم التكرارات والنسب المئوية والمتوسط الحسابي واختبار مربع كاي واختبار (ت)، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى نتائج من أهمها: لدى طلاب الجامعات السعودية اتجاه إيجابي نحو (حقوق الإنسان، نزع السلاح، وسائل اكتساب مهارات حل النزاع، وثقافة السلام بوجه عام)، في حين كانت اتجاهاتهم سلبية "نحو نقل خبرة تملك تقنية صنع القنابل، بين البلدان الإسلامية"، وأن الإناث لديهن اتجاهات أكثر إيجابية نحو نزع السلاح، أن الطلاب دائمي السفر لديهم اتجاهات أكثر إيجابية نحو "وسائل مهارات حل النزاع". Saudi University Students’ Attitude Towards a Culture of Peace Año de publicación: 2019 Autor: Rowaidah Abdulhameed Saman Autor corporativo: University of Jordan The aim of this study is to identify the attitudes of Saudi Universities’ students towards peace culture. The descriptive surveying approach was used on a sample of 1643 students. The frequency, percentages, arithmetic mean, Kay-box test, and T-test were used in the analysis. The results showed that Saudi students have a positive attitude towards (human rights, disarmament, conflict resolution skills, peace culture) while their attitudes were negative towards transferring bomb-making experience to Islamic countries. Also, females had more positive attitudes towards disarmament than male students.

The Series No.6 is a research undertaken on two schools of Japan and Korea, in which students were tasked to conduct research on bilateral conflict issues and devise suggestions for peaceful resolution. Besides classroom discussions and presentations, student exchange visit further allowed active learning and engaging of issues, historical awareness and perception, and mutual understanding as global citizens.
