The quality of the information disseminated by the media – traditional or new – is decisive when it comes to shaping public opinion. This is why UNESCO puts special emphasis on education about media and information, which it considers a fundamental skill for citizens in the twenty-first century.Freedom of expression and the free movement of ideas by words and images are among the constitutive principles of UNESCO and at the core of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. UNESCO supports the work of dedicated journalists and activists who defend fundamental freedoms, like the journalist Dawit Isaak, winner of the 2017 UNESCO/ Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize, whose story appears in this issue of the UNESCO Courier.Over the last decade, more than 800 journalists have been victims of crimes aimed at muzzling freedom of expression. Only one murder out of ten ended with a conviction. This impunity is unacceptable and further fuels the spiral of violence in the future. This is why UNESCO is committed to putting an end to these crimes against the press, on all continents, as an indispensable condition for peaceful societies that are all the more robust for being better informed.In this “post-truth” era, the role of UNESCO is more important than ever, and this issue of the Courier is a wonderful opportunity to renew our founding commitment to support information and communication to build peace in the minds of men and women. A Path to Inclusive Education in Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan Año de publicación: 2013 Autor: Nils Joseph Kauffman | Larisa A. Popova The article examines the challenges faced by initiators of inclusive education in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The research was conducted in qualitative methodology, in a case study strategy, and the object was a small school in Petropavlovsk, which has ten years of experience in including students with motor disabilities in the regular educational process. The study of this school's experience shows that the inclusion of students with special educational needs can lead to broader integration, since children with emotional and behavioral disorders now also study at the school. The difficulties of implementing inclusion are analyzed, and it is shown that the success of this educational project is largely due to the cooperation between the rehabilitation center under the Ministry of Social Protection and the public school. Popova В статье рассматриваются испытания, с которыми сталкиваются инициаторы инклюзивного образования в Республике Казахстан. Исследование проводилось в качественной методологии, в стратегии кейс стади, в качестве объекта выступала небольшая школа в г. Петропавловске, которая имеет десятилетний опыт включения в обычный образовательный процесс учеников с нарушениями опорно-двигательного аппарата. Изучение опыта этой школы показывает, что включение учащихся с особыми образовательными потребностями может привести к более широкой интеграции, поскольку теперь в школе обучаются также дети с эмоциональными и поведенческими нарушениями. Проанализированы трудности реализации инклюзии, а также показано, что успех данного образовательного проекта во многом обеспечен сотрудничеством между реабилитационным центром при Министерстве социальной защиты и государственной школой.

The continuous intensification of anthropogenic activities leads to a number of ecological imbalances and negatively affects the carrying capacity of the biosphere. Synthesis of theoretical developments of the global environmental agenda and issues of socio-economic development is reflected in the theses of the concept of sustainable development. The paper provides a detailed analysis of optimal options for reducing environmental and social risks on a regional scale by adapting international experience to the existing fragmented hydro-energy system Central Asia. Kalandarova The most development of distance higher education, is as, absolute mobility of students and teachers, educational programs, or even higher education institutions themselves, and forms another key aspect of the evolutionary considerd process. It is characterized by variables such as continuity, adaptability, modularity, independence and access to education for all citizens that doesn’t depend on their occupation, position, age even disabled person. Distance education allows to do accurate and adaptable react to the needs of society, to implement the constitutional provision of access to education, to provide broad access to education.
