EIU Best Practice Series No.30: Local-based initiative in global citizenship education: Gyeongnam teachers’ society for EIU and ESD Año de publicación: 2012 Autor: Byeongseob Choi Autor corporativo: APCEIU Issue No. 30 introduces a case in the Republic of Korea on the local-based initiatives of school teachers to promote EIU and ESD in their local community. The case illustrates the taken steps and efforts made by the respective teachers when elaborating innovative approaches to promote EIU and ESD, led by the intention to create a more open and locally relevant educational setting for students as well as teachers in response to the growing globalization. Especially the Gyeongnam Province, where the teachers are based, is experiencing a rapid demographic change due to the high influx of foreigners, which calls upon the educators to prepare their students to effectively cope with these changes and become global citizens. Joint E-9 Statement on Education Beyond 2015: Islamabad Statement Año de publicación: 2014 Autor corporativo: UNESCO This statement is adopted by the participants of the 10th E-9 Ministerial Review Meeting held in Islamabad, Pakistan, on November 27-28, 2014. They have taken stock of the progress made since 2000 and challenges remaining in the nine countries in achieving the six Education for All (EFA) goals, and reflected on the priorities and prospects for each country to sustain and further advance educational development beyond 2015. Their deliberations were based on a careful examination of the National EFA 2015 Reviews of the countries concerned, the Muscat Agreement adopted at the Global Education for All Meeting (Muscat, Oman, 12-14 May 2014), the Outcome Document of the United Nations General Assembly Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, and took into account the Aichi-Nagoya Declaration on Education for Sustainable Development as well as the changing global environment that shapes the cooperation among the E-9 countries. Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development: UNESCO's first category 1 Institute in the Asia-Pacific Año de publicación: 2014 Autor corporativo: Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) is UNESCO’s first Category 1 Institute in the Asia-Pacific. The Institute will be a key strategic player in UNESCO’s work towards quality Education for All and the transformative shift envisioned for the Post 2015 agenda. Established in cooperation with the Government of India, MGIEP has been created to play a leading role in research, knowledge sharing, capacity building and policy formulation in the area of peace and sustainability education. The Institute aims to promote, assimilate and generate high quality research to lead the intellectual and policy discourse for education and global citizenship in the region. It was named after Mahatma Gandhi, as a tribute to his ideas of non-violence and sustainable living. The President of India and the Director-General of UNESCO jointly announced the establishment of the Institute in November, 2012. It is located in New Delhi.
