These frameworks include obligations to protect and secure women and girls' right to education through the elimination of discriminatory barriers, whether they exist in law or in everyday life, and to undertake positive measures to bring about equality, including in access of, within, and through education.This paper firstly sets out the legal and political frameworks on gender equality in education to which states have committed and then describes how they have committed.In the second section, the content of states’ commitments to achieve gender equality in education is explained, including the normative content of relevant provisions found in international and regional human rights treaties and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This section also includes a classification of states according to what legal commitments to women and girls’ right to education they have made.The final section details how states can be held accountable for failure to meet their legal commitments to gender equality in education, including what mechanisms are available and examples of how these mechanisms have been used to hold states accountable.This paper is also background paper prepared for the 2018 Global education monitoring report gender review: Meeting our commitments to gender equality in education. Security, Extremism and Education: Safeguarding or Surveillance? Año de publicación: 2015 Autor: Lynn Davies This article analyses how education is positioned in the current concerns about security and extremism. Initially, a central dilemma is acknowledged: that schooling appears to be simultaneously irrelevant to the huge global questions of security and yet central to the learning of alternative ways to conduct human relations. With regard to extremism, two aspects of importance in ideological compliance or challenge are firstly the attempted securitization of education, and secondly the role of education in young people joining or supporting extremist movements. Educational approaches within transitional justice underline the importance of tackling violence in schools and promoting a human rights culture that promotes both human security and ultimately national security. Dans un premier temps, on reconnait le problème fondamental suivant :  à priori, il n’y a aucun rapport entre l'école et la question pressante de la sécurité dans le monde, et pourtant l’école est clé dans l'apprentissage des différents moyens de gestion des relations interpersonnelles. En ce qui concerne l'extrémisme, deux aspects de l’adhésion à une idéologie ou de la défiance sont importants : d'une part les efforts pour sécuriser l'éducation, et d'autre part le rôle de l'éducation vis-à-vis des jeunes rejoignent ou soutiennent des mouvements extrémistes. Les approches éducatives au sein de la justice transitionnelle soulignent l'importance de lutter contre la violence dans les écoles et de promouvoir une culture des droits de l'homme favorisant à la fois la sécurité humaine et la sécurité nationale. Est-audio-visuel donc la meilleure façon de sensibiliser les jeunes populations? Faut-il pas plutôt le rôle d'autres matériaux tels que des archives ou des témoignages? Telles sont les questions soulevées par ce livre. Cinéma peut non seulement mettre en scène l'horreur des camps de concentration, mais doit aussi éduquer les jeunes publics. Dans la première partie, Anne-Marie Baron re-examine les définitions et les concepts importants concernant le traitement audio-visuel de l'Holocauste et dans la deuxième partie, elle fournit une liste de documentaires et de films ainsi que l'analyse pour aider les enseignants dans cet exercice.
