Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA): Collaborative Water Resources Planning for an Uncertain Future Año de publicación: 2024 Autor corporativo: UNESCO Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) | International Center for Integrated Water Resources Management (ICIWaRM) | Alliance for Global Water Adaptation (AGWA) | Deltares The importance of integrating climate change considerations into water resources planning is recognized on a global scale. Various frameworks, such as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and the Paris Agreement, emphasize the need for proper planning, policy-making, and adaptation strategies. The Climate Risk Informed Decision Analysis (CRIDA) methodology was launched in 2018 as a response to these international agendas, bridging the gap between climate change uncertainty and water resource planning.
Promoting Climate-Sensitive Early Childhood Care and Education in Emergencies Año de publicación: 2023 Autor corporativo: Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) This brief addresses a gap in climate change and education literature: young children who are affected by crises. Climate mitigation and adaptation efforts often exclude early childhood care and education (ECCE), especially in crises and emergencies. Therefore, the brief outlines multisectoral ECCE interventions that can serve as solutions to broader climate change mitigation and adaptation goals. These interventions look at long-term solutions that reduce children’s exposure to climate change risks. The aim of these long-term solutions is to create new climate-adapted ways of thinking, being, and doing by focusing on care – for each other and for the earth – and by building climate resilience among children and their supporting care systems.

European pack for visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and museum - Guidelines for teachers and educators Año de publicación: 2011 Autor corporativo: Council of Europe | Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum | Poland. Ministry of Education Taking groups of students to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum is a heavy responsibility, but it is a major contribution to citizenship if it fosters understanding of what Auschwitz stands for, particularly when the last survivors are at the end of their lives. This pack is designed for teachers wishing to organize student visits to authentic places of remembrance, and for the guides, academics and others who work every day with young people at Auschwitz. To avoid the risk of inappropriate reactions or the failure to benefit from a large investment in travel and accommodation, considerable preparation and discussion is necessary before the visit and serious reflection afterwards. This pack offers insights into the complexities of human behaviour so that students can have a better understanding of what it means to be a citizen. The young people who visit Auschwitz in the next few years will be witnesses of the last witnesses. Their generation will be the last to hear the survivors speaking on the spot. The Council of Europe, the Polish Ministry of Education and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum are jointly sponsoring this project aimed at preventing crimes against humanity through Holocaust remembrance teaching. Competences for Democratic Culture: Living together as equals in culturally diverse democratic societies Año de publicación: 2016 Autor corporativo: Council of Europe This document is a product of a Council of Europe project which is taking place in four phases during 2014-17. The first phase has been devoted to the development of a conceptual model of the competences which citizens require to participate effectively in a culture of democracy. This document describes the model and the methods that were used to develop it. The document is aimed at readers who wish to understand the underlying assumptions and technical details of the model. Phase two of the project will be devoted to the development of descriptors (i.e. statements or descriptions of what a person is able to do if they have mastered the various competences that are specified by the model), phase three to ascertaining whether it is possible to assign the descriptors to levels of proficiency, and phase four to the production of supporting documentation. This documentation will be addressed to educational practitioners and policy makers, and will provide a less technical description of the current competence model. It will also explain how the model and the descriptors can be used to assist curriculum design, pedagogical design and the development of new forms of assessment (for use in either selfassessment or assessment by others). All of the materials that are produced by the project will eventually be incorporated into a Council of Europe reference framework of competences for democratic culture. Further information about the project is available from the project website: www.coe.int/competences
