Synergy Solutions for a World in Crisis: Tackling Climate and SDG Action Together Año de publicación: 2023 Autor corporativo: UNFCCC | UN. Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN. DESA) In May 2023 UNDESA and UNFCCC Secretariat co-convened the Expert Group on Climate and SDG Synergy. The Group consists of 14 renowned experts from diverse thematic and geographic backgrounds who were given the task of developing the First Global Report on Climate and SDG Synergies. This report demonstrates that aggressively acting on climate and development in an integrated and synergistic way is an important opportunity to achieve the course correction the UN Secretary- General has called for. It highlights some of the challenges but also the opportunities if the international community is seriously committed to enhancing these synergies and thereby addressing these challenges. The report is designed to provide a broad overview of available data and evidence, insights from experts on the frontlines, and recommendations for enhancing synergistic action across the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs. This first edition will form the basis for future iterations, which will entail a wider scope of sectors, and thematic areas and deep dives on specific issues pertaining to strengthening and operationalizing synergic climate and SDG actions at all levels.

Global Environment Outlook 4 (GEO-4): Environment for Development Año de publicación: 2007 Autor corporativo: United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) The fourth Global Environment Outlook – environment for development ( GEO-4 ) places sustainable development at the core of the assessment, particularly on issues dealing with intra- and intergenerational equity. The analyses include the need and usefulness of valuation of environmental goods and services, and the role of such services in enhancing development and human well-being, and minimizing human vulnerability to environmental change. The GEO-4 temporal baseline is 1987, the year in which the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED) published its seminal report, Our Common Future . The Brundtland Commission was established in 1983, under UN General Assembly resolution 38/161 to look at critical environment and development challenges. The United Nations World Water Development Report 2020: Water and Climate Change Año de publicación: 2020 Autor corporativo: UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP) The 2020 edition of the UN World Water Development Report addresses the critical linkages between water and climate change in the context of sustainable development. It also serves as a guide for concrete actions to address these challenges. It outlines actions, supported by examples from across the world, in three areas: first, enabling people to adapt to the impacts of climate change; second, improving the resilience of livelihoods; and, third, reducing the drivers of climate change. Critically, measures to improve the efficiency of water use in agriculture is inextricably linked to multiple SDGs. These include those related to zero hunger (SDG 2), availability and access to water (SDG 6), climate action (SDG 13), and promoting the sustainable use of ecosystem services (SDG 15).The Report concludes that reducing both the impacts and drivers of climate change will require substantial changes in the way we use and reuse the Earth’s limited water resources. The experience and expertise needed to achieve this goal are brought together in the Report through UN-Water’s Members and Partners. It will support policy makers in tackling the challenges of climate change by harnessing the wide-ranging opportunities that improved water management offers for adaptation, mitigation and resilience in a rapidly changing world. Le rapport sert également de guide pour prendre des mesures concrètes et relever ces défis. Il présente des actions, illustrées par des exemples provenant du monde entier, liées à trois domaines : premièrement, permettre aux personnes de s’adapter aux effets des changements climatiques ; deuxièmement, renforcer la résilience des moyens de subsistance ; enfin, réduire les moteurs des changements climatiques. Les mesures visant à accroître l’efficacité de l’utilisation de l’eau dans le domaine agricole – tout en garantissant l’accès à l’eau de groupes vulnérables tels que les petits exploitants agricoles – sont incontestablement liées à de multiples ODD.
