Girls are also struggling to learn.This solutions book seeks to highlight promising evidence-based actions in education for decision makers who are designing and implementing interventions to support girls’ education in low and middle-income country humanitarian settings and settings where education has been interrupted by the COVID‑19 pandemic. It documents practical examples of approaches that have been or are being tested, and from which lessons can be drawn.The overarching aim is that this evidence be used to inform programming in crises and support diverse stakeholders in mitigating the impact of emergencies on girls’ education.

The Degree of Responsiveness of Palestinian School Curricula in the Basic stage of the Characteristics of Democratic Education from the Point of View of Teachers Año de publicación: 2018 Autor: Mahmoud Abdel Majeed Rasheed Assaf Autor corporativo: University of Babylon The study aimed to identify the estimates of a sample of the teachers of the basic stage in Gaza Governorate to the degree of responsiveness of the Palestinian school curricula to the characteristics of democratic education and to find out if there were statistically significant differences at the level (α≤ 0.05) of significance Attributable to variables (sex, number of years of service). The researcher followed the analytical descriptive method by applying a questionnaire that included (36) paragraphs on a sample of (419) teachers and teachers from the basic education stage in Gaza governorates. The results showed that the total degree of appreciation of the primary school teachers in Gaza governorate to the extent of the school curricula 'response to the characteristics of democratic education was medium with a relative weight (67.8%). The field of (democratic teacher practices) ranked first, the field of (democratic teaching methods) ranked second, and finally the field (promotion of democratic values) in the last rank, There were no statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the ratings due to the variables. The selection of countries was based on: i) work showcased at the 2009 World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development held in Bonn, Germany; ii) submissions to the monitoring and evaluation process for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD); as well as iii) through evaluation material submitted by UNESCO staff in regional bureaux of education.The countries showcased in this report are not necessarily the ‘best’ examples of the region, as many other countries are also progressing effectively towards implementing ESD. Rather, the countries selected illustrate the wide diversity of ESD approaches and initiatives taking place in different parts of the learnt world. The national studies were then edited and harmonized before common themes and lessons learned were identified to support other national efforts in moving towards the second half of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

They have taken stock of the progress made since 2000 and challenges remaining in the nine countries in achieving the six Education for All (EFA) goals, and reflected on the priorities and prospects for each country to sustain and further advance educational development beyond 2015. Their deliberations were based on a careful examination of the National EFA 2015 Reviews of the countries concerned, the Muscat Agreement adopted at the Global Education for All Meeting (Muscat, Oman, 12-14 May 2014), the Outcome Document of the United Nations General Assembly Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, and took into account the Aichi-Nagoya Declaration on Education for Sustainable Development as well as the changing global environment that shapes the cooperation among the E-9 countries.
