La citoyenneté européenne Año de publicación: 2020 Autor corporativo: Laboratoire d'innovation pédagogique sur l'Europe (LIPE) La participation des peuples à la construction européenne a toujours posé question à partir des années 1970, lorsque les États membres souhaitent relancer le processus d’unification politique. L’élection du Parlement européen au suffrage universel est un premier pas. L’Europe des citoyens, initiée en 1975 et relancée en 1985, doit permettre de rapprocher les peuples de la Communauté, mais reste symbolique et sans grande portée pratique. Les États attendent le traité de Maastricht pour mettre en place une véritable citoyenneté européenne dans le cadre de l’Union politique. Citoyenneté seconde limitée à quelques droits, sa portée reste limitée et son efficacité politique discutable.

It provides incentive, opportunity and support for young adults to learn about global issues, engage across diverse cultures, and practice the skills of GCED at a time of intensive personal, social, political and career exploration. Furthermore, universities can encourage students to take these skills and values into their adult lives to share with others and continue the lifelong process. Arab universities are very committed to GCED. However, the way GCED in concretely implemented needs improvement. While greater attention is paid to the cognitive domain of learning, the socio-emotional and behavioral domains of learning – which best lead to effective transformative engagement – tend to be left behind. Based on existing practices, this document provides universities, academia and students with concrete proposals on how to better mainstream GCED and its values, through higher education, in the Arab region.

British Columbians’ Perspectives and Engagement on Global Issues in Light of COVID-19 Año de publicación: 2022 Autor: Kaylie D. Higgs Autor corporativo: British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC) | Kenoli Foundation | Global Affairs Canada (GAC) The COVID-19 pandemic has presented immense challenges and injustices, while also highlighting acts of resilience and possibilities to transition to a more social and environmentally just society. This context of challenge and possibility has led to new and renewed questions around how to navigate these times to promote a just, sustainable and resilient future. For the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC), these questions prompted primary research to explore current public perspectives and to support thriving public engagement and global citizenship initiatives, especially considering the perspectives of British Columbians who are typically less engaged in international cooperation. Compiled and reflected in this report, the key findings of this research are summarized, along with ten recommendations to support public engagement that emerged from this research.
