Action Civics: A New Mode of Civic Education in American Schools ๋ฐœํ–‰ ์—ฐ๋„: 2020 ์ €์ž: Li Xiaojun ๋‹จ์ฒด ์ €์ž: International and Comparative Education In recent years, a new experimental civic education, action civics, was advocated by both researchers and practitioners. It derives educational philosophies from positive youth development, social and emotional Learning, and service learning. Based on the Theory of Change, it focuses on youth voice, youth expertise, collective action and reflection, so as to promote a new mode of civic education featuring student-centered, project-based and high-quality. Traditional ideas on early age citizens see some new changes. As the core of early age childrenโ€™s citizenship education, childrenโ€™s citizenship is gradually transferred from citizens in waiting to citizens today, including right, active participation, identity and sense of belonging, and collective responsibility. The above transformation highlights global trends such as enriching ideas and contents on citizenship, regarding equity as the logic starting point, paying attention to young childrenโ€™s participation and experience, and being rooted in indigenous context and culture.
