Transforming teaching and learning in Asia and the Pacific: case studies from seven countries 발행 연도: 2015 단체 저자: UNESCO Bangkok This publication grew out of the Third Regional High-Level Expert Meeting Beyond 2015: Transforming Teaching and Learning in the Asia-Pacific Region, held from 16 to 18 October 2013 in Bangkok, Thailand. At the meeting, over 40 experts from countries across Asia and the Pacific came together to exchange views on issues and challenges in teaching and learning and to reflect on pedagogical approaches for the future. The chapters in this publication originate from seven case studies presented at the meeting. The authors thank all the participants of the meeting for the valuable thoughts and comments they shared on that occasion. 
Pursuing quality in early learning, vol. 1: Early childhood care and education (ECCE) teacher competency framework for Southeast Asia (SEA) 발행 연도: 2018 단체 저자: Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) | UNESCO Bangkok With the United Nation’s (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a platform for achieving quality early childhood care and education outcomes by 2030, ECCE policy-makers, practitioners, and academicians from Asia-Pacific countries gathered at the second Asia-Pacific Regional Policy Forum on Early Childhood Care and Education in Putrajaya, Malaysia in 2016 to share experiences, innovations, and lessons learned in developing and implementing ECCE policies and initiatives. This document first provides a brief background, and discusses the purposes and intended audience for which the framework was developed (Section I). A succeeding section reflects on the regional ECCE landscape (Section II), before proceeding to a discussion of the ECCE teacher competency framework for Southeast Asia (Section III). Section IV suggests possible uses of the ECCE teacher competency framework; a final section concludes with areas for future action.

It aims to create a data-driven, conducive educational and policy environment that maximizes opportunities that Information and Communications Technology (ICT) offers, while minimizing potential threats that the same may pose. The report was also developed in the context of the Education 2030 Agenda identifying digital skills as one of the key competencies for youth and adults to achieve and monitor until 2030. 
Preparing Teachers for Global Citizenship Education: A Template 발행 연도: 2018 단체 저자: UNESCO Bangkok The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education in Bangkok, Thailand, has taken up the task to promote GCED through a project that focuses on teachers who are key players in transferring appropriate values, knowledge and skills to their students. With support from the Korean Funds-in-Trust, one output of the project is this guide: Preparing Teachers for Global Citizenship Education: A Template.This publication provides useful information on integrating GCED concepts, principles and activities into curricula and teaching practices covering a broad spectrum of issues and pedagogies. It contains exemplars illustrating how GCED can be integrated into various subject areas. Diverse resources and materials listed in the document also offer readers a wide range of references. Underscoring the pragmatic objective of this work is the need for teachers to become global citizens themselves. Fostering Digital Citizenship through Safe and Responsible Use of ICT: A Review of Current Status in Asia and the Pacific as of December 2014 발행 연도: 2015 단체 저자: UNESCO Bangkok The publication examines various interventions to address issues concerning cybersafety, rights, and wellness. It provides a synthesis of various policy responses, programmes, and initiatives implemented by governments, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector.The report ends with a preliminary set of recommendations with regards to policy, research, education, and partnerships. It is hoped that the report can provide an insight into the current status of digital citizenship in the region and consequently highlight the importance of maintaining a conscious balance of opportunities and risks when dealing with ICT. 
A Policy Review: Building Digital Citizenship in Asia-Pacific through Safe, Effective and Responsible Use of ICT 발행 연도: 2016 단체 저자: UNESCO Bangkok This report is a major output of the project. The policy review described in this report took stock of national policies in 22 Member States in the Asia-Pacific region and assessed the capacity of their education sectors to foster digital citizenship among children aged 0-18.It is encouraging to note from the study that surveyed Member States’ policies to promote ICT opportunities mature alongside policies that address potential risks, at varying levels of policy maturity. However, while the surveyed Member States recognize the importance of equipping children with ICT skills and providing basic infrastructure, the findings indicate that there is much to be done for young learners (e.g. early childhood education and lower primary education) in introducing the concept of safe, effective and responsible use of ICT to their national curriculum as well as to their teacher professional development programmes. 
School-related violence and bullying on the basis of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or Expression (SOGIE) - Synthesis Report on China, the Philippines, Thailand and VietNam 발행 연도: 2018 단체 저자: UNESCO Bangkok School related violence and bullying is a problem in all countries. UNESCO is committed to ensuring that all children and young people have access to safe, inclusive, health-promoting learning environments as part of its strategy on education for health and well-being. This synthesis report on school related violence and bullying on the basis of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or Expression (SOGIE), covering China, the Philippines, Thailand and Viet Nam, was developed to broaden awareness and understanding about this issue, while also identifying best practices and policies. It also aims to mobilize support for advocacy among educators, research institutions, policy makers and activists at the national and regional levels. 
Out-of-School Children and Adolescents: Left Behind on the Road to Learning Opportunities for All 발행 연도: 2017 단체 저자: UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) | UNESCO Bangkok This document shows the most recent data from UIS (2017) on the rates and numbers of out-of-school children and adolescents since 2000, first globally and then within this region, examining common characteristics these young people share to provide insights into which groups are more likely to find themselves excluded from national education systems. The focus then turns to a closer examination of the obstacles out-of-school children and adolescents face in this regard and introduces educational programmes that can help them overcome these challenges. However, some young people experience violence and harassment in, around, and on the way to school. This includes gender-based violence (GBV), which can take many different forms.As a teacher, you can play an important role in preventing the expression of gender-based violence in the school setting. Teachers, school principals and the broader education system can provide positive role models, empower children and youth to have healthy and respectful relationships, and deliver a violence prevention programme within their curriculum.This tool has been created to help schools in Asia and the Pacific to do all of these things.
