Report on Roundtable for Advocating Global Citizenship Education and Climate Change Education 발행 연도: 2023 단체 저자: APCEIU This report shares the overview of the Roundtable for Advocating Global Citizenship Education and Climate Change Education, held on Saturday, 11 November 2023. The event was co-organized by the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Korea to UNESCO, Office for Climate Education, Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU) in partnership with the Group of Friends for Solidarity and Inclusion with GCED (Afghanistan, Armenia, Austria, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Nigeria and Oman), in support of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and the French National Commission for UNESCO. This report shares the summary of the event, particularly the presentations on GCED activities and Climate Change Education by experts from Uganda, the Republic of Korea, and France to promote the values and initiatives of GCED and CCE. 
Including Transformative Education in Pre-service Teacher Training: A Guide for Universities and Teacher Training Institutions in the Arab Region 발행 연도: 2024 저자: Khalaf Al Abri | Marco Pasqualini 단체 저자: UNESCO Beirut Transformative Education (TE), which includes concepts such as Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), is an essential approach to provide learners with the tools to act for more just, peaceful and sustainable societies. Between 2021 and 2023, the experts of the UNESCO Arab Transformative Education Network identified the creation of a course on Transformative Education for teachers’ pre-service training as a key step to (i) provide teachers with the needed skills to promote Transformative Education as part of the national curriculum as well as though their daily teaching practices, and (ii) to support the reform of pedagogies more broadly, by making them more interactive and focused on critical thinking, and thus positively contributing to improving learners’ overall learning outcomes. This guidance document is addressed to all entities in charge of pre-service teacher training (e.g. departments of education within higher education institutions and teacher training institutions) in the Arab region interested in including Transformative Education as part of their programmes. The guidance document particularly supports faculty deans and academia in defining the scope and the key parameters to consider while developing a course on Transformative Education, including defining course objectives, format, content, and pedagogy, as well as choosing the right facilitator(s) to deliver the course. The document also provides useful references to other guides and tools which can further support the reflections around Transformative Education and how it can be concretely applied and promoted at the higher education level. 
Empowering Students for Just Societies: A Handbook to Teach Integrity in Secondary Schools 발행 연도: 2024 단체 저자: UNESCO | UN. Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) The importance of education lies in its power to shape the values of upcoming generations and equip them with the knowledge to make informed decisions. Contemporary challenges, including corruption must be addressed through education, transparency, accountability and the rule of law, among other efforts. This joint publication by UNODC and UNESCO is a response to this important issue. It is aimed at educators who are striving to inspire and prepare future generations to actively contribute to societies grounded in integrity, ethics and respect for the rule of law. The handbook builds on the first two launched in 2019. This publication highlights the transformative power of education in strengthening the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values necessary for addressing global challenges, especially those that stem from a lack of integrity, like corruption. It underlines the crucial role education plays in nurturing critical thinking, empathy, ethical behaviour, and a commitment to justice and equality among people. The handbook presents a catalogue of educational activities, lesson plans and outside the classroom resources designed to empower youth to reject corrupt practices and become agents of change, promoting integrity and upholding democratic values.

2023 Asia-Pacific Regional Global Citizenship Education (GCED): Network Activities Summary Report 발행 연도: 2023 저자: Seek Ling Tan 단체 저자: UNESCO Bangkok This is a summary report from the Global Citizenship Education (GCED) network activities in Asia-Pacific in 2023. The Asia-Pacific Regional Global Citizenship Education Network, spearheaded by UNESCO Bangkok and the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), has illuminated the path to empower learners to become global citizens since its inception in 2018. In 2023, their journey was punctuated by significant milestones and a revitalized commitment to propel GCED across the region. This commitment is particularly evident in the key priority areas of advocacy, capacity building, learning/teaching materials, policy and research and the synergizing of regional collaboration towards Education 2030. 
2023 Asia-Pacific Training Workshop on EIU: Mentorship Programme Final Report 발행 연도: 2023 단체 저자: APCEIU Asia-Pacific Training Workshop on EIU/GCED (APTW) is APCEIU's flagship Training of Trainers (TOT) programme for educators and teacher trainers in the Asia-Pacific region. Over the last 23 years, APCEIU benefitted more than 650 educators through the workshop. Especially, since 2021, the workshop has been carried out online training workshops, mentorship, and local project implementation to further support the participants to bring positive and sustainable changes in their local communities. In 2023, the 22nd APTW was virtually held from 30 May to 8 June with the theme of 'GCED as a Common Vision for Change.' 56 enthusiastic educators from 16 UNESCO member states in the Asia-Pacific region joined the programme. The workshop provided a venue to learn and discuss how GCED could contribute to transforming current education. This report summarizes 14 GCED projects implemented in the Asia-Pacific region by the 22nd APTW alumni who participated in the mentorship programme. 
Global Capacity-Building Workshop on GCED 2023: Follow-Up Activity Report 발행 연도: 2023 단체 저자: APCEIU This report summarizes 15 GCED projects implemented by the selected mentees/grantees of APCElU's 8th Global Capacity-Building Workshop on GCED on 13-21 July 2023. The projects include teacher training workshops, curriculum development, school-based activities, and community development projects, undertaken by educators, teachers, and practitioners in Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The mentees/grantees first participated in the 8th Global Capacity-Building Workshop on GCED in August 2023. After completing the Workshop, graduates submitted GCED proposals to be selected as grantees/mentees. The selected 15 mentees/grantees were matched with expert mentors who guided them in their project development and implementation. This report describes the summary of 15 projects held in different corners of the world along with their outputs. 
The Contribution of the New Mexican Culture to Education for World Citizenship(Sinéctica, Revista electrónica de educación; no. 60) 발행 연도: 2023 저자: Gloria Esther Briceño Alcaraz 단체 저자: Sinéctica, Revista Electrónica de Educación A couple of years ago, UNESCO suggested transforming educational models based on an in-tegral and humanist paradigm in order to train new generations with a social and civic di-mension, based on human rights. In this essay we propose to analyze the work of education as a preferential instrument not only to develop traditional school skills, but also as an ac-tion to form citizens with a sense of responsibility and social self-awareness that promote a culture of peace. The citizen-subject represents an identity or discursive construction that is forged in the social framework in which it is situated, always in tension between individual freedom, autonomy and collective normative frameworks (Cerda, 2004), hence the interest in approaching from a critical perspective of discourse analysis (Van Dijk, 2014) to the pro-posal of the new educational model of Mexico called the New Mexican School (2022) and open the discussion on this pedagogical model and the formative fields that affect education for global citizenship. En este ensayo nos planteamos analizar el quehacer de la educación como instrumento preferente no solo para desarrollar las capacidades escolares tradicionales, sino como acción formadora de ciudadanos con sentido de responsabilidad y autoconciencia social que promuevan una cultura de paz. El sujeto-ciudadano representa una construcción identitaria o discursiva que se va forjando en el entramado social en el que este se sitúa, siempre en tensión entre la libertad individual, la autonomía y los marcos normativos colectivos (Cerda, 2004), de ahí el interés en aproximarnos desde una perspectiva crítica del análisis del discurso (Van Dijk, 2014) a la propuesta de la llamada nueva escuela mexicana (2022) y abrir la discusión sobre este modelo pedagógico y los campos formativos que inciden en la educación para la ciudadanía mundial. 
Education for Global Citizenship as a Transformative Methodological Proposal: Reflections and Practical Proposals 발행 연도: 2019 저자: Isarel García | Joan Gratacós | Desiderio De Paz | Mercè Gil | Assumta Zapata 단체 저자: Oxfam International This publication, the result of the collaborative work of the Network of educators for global citizenship, is a proposal for reflection and practical examples regarding the transformative nature of Education for global citizenship, being essential that for this educational approach that its actions educational activities are aimed at promoting critical thinking, dialogue, collaboration, solidarity and commitment to transform inequalities and promote social justice, equity and sustainable development. The methodological approach, therefore, must also be transformative and the strategies that accompany processes, promote this social transformation. Transformative methodologies are inherent to Education for global citizenship and the methodological processes that contribute to the construction of schools for global citizenship, in our opinion, should be based on three different pillars: promote the transformative dimension of education to build another world possible and necessary, promote a socio-affective approach focused on solidarity and cosmopolitan empathy and promote the construction of a more participatory and integrated curriculum that generates meaning in teachers and students.
