Learning at Risk: the Impact of Climate Displacement on the Right to Education; Global Report 발행 연도: 2023 단체 저자: UNESCO How climate displacement the impacts the right to education The growing impacts of climate change and displacement on education can no longer be ignored. The increasing number of people displaced due to climate change faces unique vulnerabilities, especially in terms of access to education. This challenge is not only attributed to the often limited political and legal recognition of these displaced persons, but also stems from the global community’s lack of awareness of the diverse obstacles they encounter in seeking access to education. This global report, which concludes the “Initiative on the impact of climate change and displacement on the right to education”, aims to provide guidance to policy-makers worldwide on how to better respect, protect and fulfil the right to education of climate-displaced people. It provides an overview of climate-induced barriers to education, and global policy guidance on how to ensure the protection of the right to education of these populations. The report will inform UNESCO’s Initiative on “The evolving right to education within a lifelong learning perspective” which is investigating how the right to education, as enshrined in international normative instruments, could be strengthened to meet modern needs in our rapidly changing societies.

Consequently, audiences do not receive the full picture, and promises of fair and accurate representation often fall short, affecting our perceptions of each other in society. It is the case of persons with disabilities, who make up 16 percent of the global population but remain one of the most marginalized groups. Media coverage frequently overlooks them, and when their stories are told, they are often framed through stereotypes. This not only creates barriers but also denies them their rights. To address this, media organizations should enhance editorial policies and representation, improve employment conditions, and foster a more inclusive environment for professionals with disabilities.The Practical Manual and Master Class provide hands-on advice to editorial teams on how to ensure fair and unbiased coverage of disability. For content producers, it details how to make media content and services accessible. To managers and decision makers, the material inspires change, demonstrating how disability equality can contribute to media industry growth and create new revenue streams.This work contributes to the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006) and promotes freedom of expression, media development, and access to information for the meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in public debate. Countering and addressing online hate speech: a guide for policy makers and practitioners 발행 연도: 2023 단체 저자: UN. Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect Online hate speech remains a critical challenge to advancing the objectives set out in the UN Strategy and Plan of Action on Hate Speech and the pillars of the United Nations work, namely Peace and Security, Human Rights and Sustainable Development. The recommendations outlined in this policy paper, provide a framework for countering hate speech, in line with international human rights norms and standards. The recommendations are based on three years of consultations and dialogue, including with the technology and social media companies, experts, the UN Working Group on Hate Speech and civil society. Their implementation should be part of broader efforts to address hate speech globally, including its root causes and impact offline, in line with the UN Strategy and Plan of Action. The pursuit of these recommendations should also prioritize participation and engagement directly with the victims of hate speech, underpinned by the principles of non-discrimination and leaving no one behind.

Кроме этого, задач, связанных с образованием и включенных в Повестку дня в области устойчивого развития.Наряду с этим в документе рассматриваются аспекты, касающиеся подотчетности в сфере образования, в частности, анализируются возможности повышения всеми вовлеченными сторонами эффективности, действенности и справедливости предоставляемых образовательных услуг. Доклад включает обзор различных механизмов, используемых для обеспечения подотчетности правительств, школ, учителей, родителей, международных организаций и частных структур в интересах всеохватности, справедливости и качества образования.На основе оценки эффективности подходов, существующих в вопросах подотчетности, и анализа внешних факторов, которые могут влиять на эту эффективность, в ВДМО 2017/18 гг. были сформулированы конкретные рекомендации, направленные на укрепление систем образования. 
Asia-Pacific Education 2030: SDG 4 Midterm Review 발행 연도: 2024 단체 저자: UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) | UNESCO Bangkok This publication marks the conclusion of the collaborative national midterm reviews of SDG 4 achievement in the Asia-Pacific. More importantly, it represents the beginning of the final sprint to the 2030 finish line. It also serves as a comprehensive analytical and policymaking tool for all stakeholders in the region to reflect and be better prepared for the second half of the journey. At the midway point of implementing the Education 2030 Agenda, we are observing both challenges and progress in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) in the Asia-Pacific. The region, overall, has made advances in reaching the globally and regionally most important targets under SDG 4, yet it is still far from delivering the common commitment of the Education 2030 Agenda, to ‘ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’. Eight years into implementation, the Asia-Pacific has shown progress, especially in improving access to lower levels of basic education, as well as expanding early childhood education (ECE). Across most subregions of Asia and the Pacific, over 95% of primary school students complete primary education within the expected timeframe, while more than 80% of children one year before the official primary entry age are enrolled in organized early childhood education. However, participation in education is only one part of the puzzle, and the quality of learning, evidenced by limited data for the Asia-Pacific region on learning outcomes, remains concerning. More than half of students in Eastern and South-Eastern Asia do not reach the minimum proficiency level in mathematics at the end of lower secondary education. Overall and from a regional perspective, with priorities having accelerated in ECE, primary education reaching universal participation, and higher education being consistently regarded as prestigious to accomplish, secondary education is currently the weakest link apart from the chronically undervalued technical vocational education and training path. Fulfilling our commitment to the Education 2030 Agenda and leaving no one behind is not an easy endeavour and we need everyone on board in this unprecedented, yet necessary feat. This publication is meant to facilitate taking stock of the current situation and accelerate focused advances on the most relevant education topics for the Asia-Pacific region.

To effectively combat these issues, it is essential to have a comprehensive understanding of the Holocaust —how and why the genocide of the Jewish people occurred. This knowledge helps us recognize the causes and risk factors, contributing to the prevention of future atrocity crimes and the fight against antisemitism. In the digital age, it is also imperative to be able to decipher the manipulation of history, and the misrepresentation of the past.The guide provides teachers with the necessary tools and guidance to prevent the spread of Holocaust denial and distortion. It equips teachers with knowledge, teaching principles, and strategies to foster digital literacy, historical understanding, and critical thinking in learners. Aimed primarily at history and social sciences teachers, it outlines key concepts, teaching methods, and approaches to counter Holocaust denial and distortion. 
Gender and Recovery Toolkit: Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Crisis and Recovery Settings; Updated 2024 발행 연도: 2024 단체 저자: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) The Gender and Recovery toolkit is a practical resource in the hands of UNDP personnel to help government, civil society and other partners put gender equality at the core of immediate and long-term recovery processes. It shows how to incorporate gender perspectives and women’s participation throughout the recovery programme cycle – from assessment, strategic planning and framing of results to budgeting and implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.The toolkit emphasizes the need to address the root causes of gender inequality and fragility by transforming power dynamics. It advocates for approaches that go beyond increasing women’s representation, focusing on tackling masculinities and reshaping institutions, behaviors, and norms. It underscores the importance of holistic strategies to address the interconnected challenges of climate change, peacebuilding, and gender equality in crisis contexts, highlighting the role of technology and innovative programming in empowering women. The seven guidance notes and tip sheets incorporate recent updates to global policy frameworks with updated indicators and robust data sources. While primarily designed for UNDP practitioners, this resource is valuable for all partners in crisis and recovery settings.
