Out in the Open: Education Sector Responses to Violence Based on Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity/Expression: Summary Report 발행 연도: 2016 단체 저자: UNESCO Violence in schools and other educational settings is a worldwide problem. Students who are perceived not to conform to prevailing sexual and gender norms, including those who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), are more vulnerable. Violence based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, also referred to as homophobic and transphobic violence, is a form of school-related gender-based violence. It includes physical, sexual and psychological violence and bullying and, like other forms of school-related violence, can occur in classes, playgrounds, toilets and changing rooms, on the way to and from school and online. This report summarises the findings of a global review, commissioned by UNESCO, of homophobic and transphobic violence in schools and education sector responses.

It also provides evidence of how this implementation process contributes to attaining the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and targets.The 2018 Global Report analyses progress achieved in implementing the 2005 Convention since the first Global Report was published in 2015.Grounded in the analysis of the Quadrennial Periodic Reports submitted by Parties to the Convention and relevant new findings, this report examines how the 2005 Convention has inspired policy change at the global and country level in ten areas of monitoring. It puts forward a set of policy recommendations for the future, addressing the adaptation of cultural policies to rapid change in the digital environment, based on human rights and fundamental freedoms.When deployed together, the two editions of the Global Report are beginning to produce new and valuable evidence to inform cultural policy making and advance creativity for development.

Better Life, Better Future: UNESCO Global Partnership for Girl's and Women's Education 발행 연도: 2011 단체 저자: UNESCO “Better Life, Better Future”, UNESCO’s global partnership for girls’ and women’s education, addresses two main areas requiring increased attention – secondary education and adult literacy. It will seek to introduce programmes aimed at stemming the dropout of adolescent girls in the transition from primary to secondary education and in lower secondary schools, as well as focus on scaling up women’s literacy programmes through stronger advocacy and partnerships. As a first step, and in complement to other United Nations initiatives, UNESCO has recently concluded several dynamic public and private partnerships, which stand to benefit marginalized girls and women in Africa and Asia.

It is the product of a collaborative effort involving members of the Report Team and many other people, agencies, institutions and governments. This 11th EFA Global Monitoring Report provides a timely update on progress that countries are making towards the global education goals that were agreed in 2000. It also makes a powerful case for placing education at the heart of the global development agenda after 2015.An education system is only as good as its teachers. Unlocking their potential is essential to enhancing the quality of learning. Evidence shows that education quality improves when teachers are supported – it deteriorates if they are not, contributing to the shocking levels of youth illiteracy captured in this Report. This Report identifies four strategies to provide the best teachers to reach all children with a good quality education. The Report shows also that teachers can only shine in the right context, with well-designed curricula and assessment strategies to improve teaching and learning. This Report’s evidence clearly shows that education provides sustainability to progress against all development goals. Educate mothers, and you empower women and save children’s lives. Educate communities, and you transform societies and grow economies. This is the message of this EFA Global Monitoring Report.
