Dans le monde, 75 millions d’enfants vivant dans un pays affecté par une crise ont besoin d’un soutien éducatif1.Comment faire face aux crises ? Comment améliorer les capacités des systèmes à réduire leurs impacts ? Renforcer la résilience des systèmes éducatifs par une planification adaptée aux situations de crise est une priorité de l’IIPE. Notre institut a développé, avec ses principaux partenaires, des orientations stratégiques et des outils dédiés à la planification de l’éducation adaptés aux situations de crises. Forts de notre expérience sur cette thématique en Afrique, nous travaillons également en collaboration avec l’UNICEF au développement d’une nouvelle méthodologie dédiée à l’analyse des risques et vulnérabilités.Atténuer l’impact des crises appelle à renforcer les relations avec les partenaires. Une planification adaptée aux vulnérabilités doit faciliter le dialogue entre les acteurs du développement et ceux de l’humanitaire afin que les plans d’interventions soient coordonnés et alignés sur les priorités gouvernementales des plans sectoriels. Un dollar investi dans la réduction des risques pourrait épargner jusqu’à 7 dollars en coût de reconstruction. Prendre en compte les risques dans l’analyse et la planification des systèmes éducatifs est donc un investissement judicieux. 
I'd blush if I could: closing gender divides in digital skills through education 발행 연도: 2019 저자: Mark West | Rebecca Kraut | Han Ei Chew 단체 저자: UNESCO | EQUALS Skills Coalition This publication seeks to expose some of these biases and put forward ideas to begin closing a digital skills gender gap that is, in most parts of the world, wide and growing. Today, women and girls are 25 per cent less likely than men to know how to leverage digital technology for basic purposes, 4 times less likely to know how to programme computers and 13 times less likely to file for a technology patent. Ata moment when every sector is becoming a technology sector, these gaps should make policy-makers, educators and everyday citizens ‘blush’ in alarm. The publication explains the role gender-responsive education can play to help reset gendered views of technology and ensure equality for women and girls. This publication was prepared by UNESCO for the EQUALS Skills Coalition, one of three coalitions that comprise the EQUALS partnership. EQUALS is a global partnership of governments and organizations dedicated topromoting gender balance in the technology sector by championing equality of access, skills and leadership for women and men alike. The Skills Coalition, Access Coalition, Leadership Coalition and a transversal Research Group release knowledge products periodically, organize competitions and funds, and take actions in countries and internationally to advance EQUALS’smission. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) generously supported this publication financially and co-leads the EQUALS Skills Coalition with UNESCO. A dedicated working group composed of digital skills and gender experts guided the development of the content. 
Sharing Malaysian experience in participation of girls in STEM education 발행 연도: 2016 단체 저자: UNESCO International Bureau of Education (IBE) The Malaysia government has placed STEM as a focus in developing the country towards achieving the status of a developed nation. The government acknowledges the role of women as equal partners in nation building. Thus, various policies ranging from economy, education, women’s welfare and human resources have been formulated through the years. These policies have resulted in among others, the increase in women researchers from 35.8% in 2004 to 49.9% in 2012 as well as more women’s participation in selected STEM courses at the tertiary level. A total of 84 girls’ day schools with 6 of them as residential STEM Girls’ schools have been built since 1939. There are many female role models in STEM for the girls to emulate. This has been made possible by the successful implementation of the various policies related to women in STEM as well as innovative measures in facing the continuing challenges in STEM education.

Literacy in multilingual and multicultural contexts: effective approaches to adult learning and education 발행 연도: 2016 저자: Ulrike Hanemann, Cassandra Scarpino All of the literacy programmes featured in this publication offer valuable experiences and lessons on how the challenges posed by linguistic and cultural diversity can be productively addressed by harnessing the potential of language and culture as enriching resources in the process of literacy teaching and learning. A major lesson that has emerged over the years is that the use of local languages as the medium of instruction enhances the effectiveness and efficiency of the learning process in developing literacy, numeracy and (second or more) language skills. However, mother tongue-based literacy not only facilitates the learning process, but is also an important symbol of identity, unity and self-determination. It is closely intertwined with culture and local values, wisdom, worldviews and tradition. A number of the featured programmes demonstrate that language and culture in education are highly political. Respect for all languages and cultures, and their equal treatment, can play a critical role in fostering national cohesion. In some cases, this is contributing to rebuilding peace in post-conflict communities. Literacy programmes that contribute to the preservation of linguistic and cultural diversity should, also, be viewed as integral to sustainable development.
