End Violence Against Children
Safe to Learn – is an initiative dedicated to ending violence in and through schools so children are free to learn, thrive and pursue their dreams. Safe to Learn presents an opportunity to unlock the multiple win of ending violence in schools, improving learning outcomes, better leveraging investments in education, and raising awareness and change attitudes towards violence against children. To date, 11 countries have endorsed Safe to Learn’s Call to Action, which sets out in high-level terms what needs to happen to end violence in schools. These countries include Cambodia, Georgia, Ghana, Honduras, Mexico, Moldova, Nepal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Uganda and El Salvador.

Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE)
This special issue of JEiE—the first of two parts—showcases research on important developments in the field of refugee education across several regions, including the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. The issue includes four research articles, one interview, two field notes, and three book reviews.The contributing authors describe and analyze how international agencies, state bureaucracies, local organizations and their partners, and refugees shape the structures that influence the education of refugees, both historically and in the present, and how these actors imagine their roles. In so doing, the authors help to untangle key questions about how responsibility for meeting refugees’ educational needs and aspiration is taken up and shared. The articles in this issue include immediate and long-term lessons for how refugee education is designed and experienced.

From the “Education for Development and International Cooperation” course, which is part of the Social Education career at the University of Huelva, students are performing some social activities to experience different theoretical concepts through social-educational projects that the students, in teams, organize and carry out during the semester. These projects promote, committed and responsible global citizens who can promote social changes in the careers they are persuing.

Desde la asignatura Educación para el Desarrollo y la Cooperación Internacional, de 3º del Grado en Educación Social, en la Universidad de Huelva se vienen desarrollando propuestas para que el alumnado pueda vivenciar el aprendizaje teórico de la asignatura a través de la realización de proyectos socioeducativos, en grupo. Estos proyectos promueven ciudadanos globales críticos, responsables y comprometidas capaces de promover cambios sociales en las carreras para los que se están preparando.

There are several efforts to promote multiculturalism and decolonization in higher education, but their application has limitations. This article notes that often these issues are discussed under the influences of history in primary and secondary education that not correspond to higher education and universities reality. In other cases they are addressed as primarily cultural and folclorized problems. To attend this issue, this chapter suggest a reconceptualization of culture and a more integral, materialist and political historical and institutional analysis of interculturality and decolonization in universities. In these way, tried to explain the difficulties in applying the current educational reform at the higher education.
La interculturalidad y la descolonización en la Educación Superior y sus desafíos en Bolivia

Existen diversos esfuerzos para promover la interculturalidad y descolonización en educación superior, pero su aplicación presenta limitaciones. Este artículo observa que con frecuencia aquellos temas son analizados bajo influencias de la historia de la educación primaria o secundaria que no se adecua a la educación superior y las universidades. En otros casos son abordados como problemas principalmente culturales y folclorizantes. Por eso propone una reconceptualización de la cultura y sugiere un análisis histórico e institucional más integral, materialista y político de la interculturalidad y descolonización en las universidades. Así trata de explicar las dificultades de aplicación de la reforma educativa actual en el nivel superior.
Education for Citizenship in the New Global Order

This article analyzes the concept of citizenship from a historical perspective and confronting it with an analysis of the different hegemonies that have tried to impose a global order and the consequences of applying policies that obey to this order. After this, it revises the right of receiving an education bearing in mind the new global realities; and, finally, it centers the study in the different problems education is facing as a consquence of the world order and proposes a perspective to follow.

En el siguiente trabajo se analiza la concepción de ciudadanía abordándola de manera histórica y confrontándola con un análisis de las diferentes hegemonías que han tratado de imponer un orden global y las consecuencia de la aplicación de políticas en obediencia a dicho orden. Luego de ello, revisa el derecho a la educación teniendo en cuenta las nuevas realidades globales para, finalmente, centrar el estudio en las diferentes problemáticas que afronta la educación como consecuencia del orden mundial y proponer un enfoque sobre el cual debería guiarse.
