The Aesthetic Dimension of the Civic and Citizenship Education (Journal of Educational Studies; Vol. 12, No. 1) Год публикации: 2019 Автор: Zheng Fuxing Организация-автор: Beijing Normal University Civic emotion is an important part of citizenship. However, the contemporarily research and practice of the civic and citizenship education pay less attention to emotional issues. This defect in the civic quality and the civic and citizenship education weakens the enthusiasm of civic participation and the common feelings among citizens. Emphasis on emotional education highlights the aesthetic factors of the civic and citizenship education. Citizen’ emotions are first represented as the emotional identification to public affairs or public things, such as national identity; the way to cultivate citizen’s emotional identity not only can be through the aesthetic experience of national culture but also the emotional connection among citizens in the practice participation. Citizen’s emotions are also manifested as an emotional critique of public affairs or public things. The way to cultivate the citizen’s emotional criticism is mainly to cultivate citizen’s ability of aesthetic criticism based on aesthetic justice.

Western Debates on Global Citizenship Education: Definition, Value and Practice (International and Comparative Education; No. 7) Год публикации: 2019 Автор: Lijian | Liu Baocun Организация-автор: Beijing Normal University In the late twentieth century, in order to deal with the opportunities and challenges came from the globalization to all the countries worldwide, the developed countries in Europe and the United States began to focus on cultivating students’ global citizenship consciousness and global citizenship practice. Since 1990s, the western debate on global civic education has been widely spread among scholars and practitioners worldwide. The global citizenship education debate focuses on global citizenship education value and practice in three aspects: the connotation of global citizenship education debate on the ability-oriented, value-oriented definition, and the comprehensive-based definition. The value debate on the global citizenship education mainly includes: patriotism and the world socialist argument, national interests and global interests, the global education debate and the civic education debate and unified culture and cultural diversity debate. The global citizenship education practice debate involves the research and development of world education and cognitive education and behavior education.

Digital Citizenship Education: The Policy and Practice in Asia-Pacific Region (International and Comparative Education; Vol. 8) Год публикации: 2019 Автор: Zhou Xiaoli | Wang Fangzhou Организация-автор: Beijing Normal University With the advent of the network informational age, digital citizenship has gradually become a concept for in-depth exploration. At the same time, the education of digital citizenship has also increasingly become an important part of the education system of many countries around the world. In Asia-Pacific area, UNESCO Bangkok has started to launch the digital citizenship project, while those member states are actively exploring and working on all aspects of relevant policy and practice. As the countries with high information level, Singapore, Australia and Korea have been carrying out better digital citizenship educations, especially in terms of cyber wellness courses, cyber security education and internet addiction prevention and treatment. The status and experience of the digital citizenship education in Asia-Pacific countries can provide some enlightenment for the future advancements of digital citizenship education in China.

International Environmental Politics and Critical Approach to Global Citizenship Education (International and Comparative Education; No. 8) Год публикации: 2017 Автор: Zheng Fuxing Организация-автор: Beijing Normal University The research and practice of global citizenship education have thrived since 1990s, but the effectiveness of global citizenship education is limited. The researcher cannot avoid the problematic premise of the possibility of global citizenship education. The identity predicament of global citizen and alienation of local implementing make probability of the global citizenship education problematic. The practical predicament of the global citizenship education manifests that the nation state is the key factor of policy implementation. Environmental question, which is about global common good, attracts the attention from the government of most of nations, and becomes the good case for exploring the feasibility of global citizenship education. Environmental politics explain the inequality and injustice in the globally environmental governance which made the global citizenship education critical. The critical ecopedagogy becomes the new form of global citizenship. The practice of the global citizenship education becomes viable by hybrid activism generated by dialectical movement between local and global in the limit of nation-state.
