Escuelas asociadas de la UNESCO news infos: educación sobre el cambio climático Год публикации: 2009 Организация-автор: UNESCO As the United Nations Climate Change Conference takes place on December 7 to 18 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark, this special issue will focus on selected climate change education activities carried out by the ASP network around the globe. Climate change is one of the most urgent challenges of sustainable development and a key action theme in the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD). ASPnet schools around the world work on Climate Change Education in order to enable students to make informed and responsible decisions, turn passive awareness into behaviour change and make sustainable behaviours a daily habit. The development of good practices and innovative educational materials in climate change education is a key element in ASPnet’s strategy to meet the pressing educational needs of the future generation. This newsletter highlights only a few of the large number of activities of ASPnet worldwide. The Intersections Between Education, Migration and Displacement are not gender-neutral (Global Education The Intersections between Education, Migration and Displacement Monitoring Report, 2019) Год публикации: 2019 Организация-автор: UNESCO The 2019 Global Education Monitoring Report emphasized the need to include migrants and refugees in national education systems, and also called for more planning to respond to the needs of these populations. As this short review has outlined, many of these needs have gender dimensions. These range from the vulnerability of rural‑to‑urban migrant girls who end up as domestic workers deprived of education opportunities to the vulnerability of refugee boys, often unaccompanied, who have limited opportunities to develop their skills. They encompass the deskilling of international migrant women in the ‘global care chain’ as well as the increasing chore burden that left‑behind girls face when a parent migrates.Still, research on the experiences of girls and women or boys and men in migration and displacement contexts – and how these can be affected by education – remains limited. More analysis on the intersection of gender, education, migration and displacement is needed on a wide variety of issues, including the gender-specific dimensions of remittance use, gender-responsive teaching practices and the empowerment impact of non-formal education opportunities. Au cours des 30 dernières années, l'UNESCO a contribué activement à la construction de la base de connaissances mondiale sur le changement climatique. Principalement au moyen de sa contribution à la science du climat (systèmes d'observation des océans mondiaux, l'évaluation et suivi) et secondairement par l'éducation la promotion, le développement des capacités, la sensibilisation du public et l'accès à l'information. Comme le Gestionnaire des tâches du chapitre 36 d'Action 21 - qui a trait à la promotion de l'éducation, la sensibilisation du public et de la formation - et organisme chef de file pour la Décennie des Nations Unies pour l'éducation au développement durable (DEDD, 2005-2014), l'Organisation joue un rôle de premier plan dans la promotion de l'éducation pour le développement durable (EDD). Le changement climatique est l'un des thèmes d'action clés de la Décennie, comme cela a été réaffirmé à l'éducation Worldconférenceon pour le développement durable tenu à Bonn en Avril 2009. L'éducation a un rôle central à jouer dans la compréhension, atténuation et l'adaptation au changement climatique. Primarily through its contribution to climate science (global ocean observation systems, assessment and monitoring) and secondarily by promoting education, capacity development, public awareness and access to information. As Task Manager of Chapter 36 of Agenda 21 – which relates to the promotion of education, public awareness and training – and lead agency for the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD, 2005-2014), the Organization plays a lead role in promoting Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Climate change is one of the key action themes of the Decade, as was reaffirmed at the World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development held in Bonn in April 2009. Education has a central role to play in understanding, mitigating and adapting to the changing climate. While education at all levels and in both formal and informal settings is needed, instilling climate change awareness and understanding at a young age is ultimately the best way to change behaviours and attitudes. What children learn today will shape tomorrow’s world. Through the New Delhi work programme – which is a flexible programme for country-driven action engaging all stakeholders on education, training and public awareness on climate change, UNESCO supports its Member States to implement Article 6 of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Similarly, the UNESCO Enhanced Plan of Action for the Strategy for Action on Climate Change recognizes the importance of and outlines action for education in promoting mitigation of and adaptation to climate change. From access to empowerment: UNESCO strategy for gender equality in and through education 2019-2025 Год публикации: 2019 Организация-автор: UNESCO Gender bias still permeate the entire education system in some settings and is often perpetuated rather than questionned. This includes the absence of women as leaders in textbooks, to differential expectations of boys and girls by teachers, to school policies that put pregnant girls at the door rather than respecting, protecting and fulfilling their right to education. This Strategy focuses on system-wide transformation to benefit all learners and targeted interventions to support girls’ and women’s empowerment. It offers three clear lines of action: better data to inform action for gender equality in and through education, better legal, policy and planning frameworks to advance rights, and better teaching and learning practices to empower.
