Science Education in a Cultural Diversity Context: The Migrant Student in Chile (Revista Saberes Educativos; July-Decembe, No.11) Год публикации: 2023 Автор: Carmen Luisa Alfaro Contreras | Iskra Pavez Soto The aim of this article is to analyze teachers' conceptions of science education in contexts of cultural diversity. In recent years, the presence of migrant students in Chilean education has increased, which has generated a meeting of diverse world views that stress the paradigms of scientific education itself. The article presents a study whose methodological design was of a qualitative nature. 13 interviews were conducted with a strategic sample made up of science teachers from the school system, pedagogy students, and university professors. The results reflect dissimilar ideas about the relationship between science and culture, generating, on the one hand, a kind of invisibility or denial of diversity and, on the other, a recognition of a multiplicity of ways of building knowledge, approaching an intercultural view of science. Stereotyped ideas about the student body and the lack of training to deal with cultural diversity are recognized. The main difficulties are associated with the characteristics of the school system and the hegemonic and monocultural nature of the curriculum. It concludes with recommendations on the need for a postcolonial scientific education and to democratize knowledge, with a focus on student learning that allows the development of critical individuals. Inclusion Beyond Borders: What Is Needed to Recognize, Validate and Accredit the Prior Learning of Migrants and Refugees? (Lifelong Learning Policy Brief; 15) Год публикации: 2024 Организация-автор: UIS This policy brief provides insights regarding four principal areas of action for policy-makers and other key stakeholders who seek to build the recognition, validation and accreditation (RVA) systems that cater to the needs of migrants and refugees as distinct groups. It highlights the importance of developing an integrated national policy approach that supports sustainable implementation of RVA practices inclusive of newcomers from different walks of life. It also looks at establishing a clear, shared vision for a comprehensive RVA system that is inclusive of both migrants and refugees, reflected in key building blocks. It explores the creation of quality processes to assess the skills, competencies and potential of individuals from diverse backgrounds accurately and professionally, through flexible, accessible practices. Finally, it evaluates how RVA outreach and counselling mechanisms that cater to both migrants and refugees can be incorporated.

En un conjunto de trece módulos, docentes de periodismo reciben un plan de estudios integral. Cubre todos los aspectos necesarios para capacitar en el análisis, la investigación, la presentación, el marketing y la ética de cubrir la migración. El manual es único, ya que comprende resultados de los estudios de comunicación, así como las ciencias políticas y sociales. Ha sido desarrollado por un grupo internacional e intercultural de investigadores de medios, educadores de medios y profesionales mediáticos.Las y los profesores de Periodismo podrán poner en marcha un nuevo plan de estudios. Estudiantes de periodismo aprenderán que la migración y el desplazamiento forzado tratan sobre seres humanos y, por lo tanto, requieren conocimiento y conciencia de los hechos precisos, fuentes confiables, informes éticos y buenas prácticas. Il couvre tous les aspects nécessaires pour enseigner l'analyse, la recherche documentaire, la mise en forme, le démarchage des organes de presse et l'éthique de la couverture des migrations. Unique en son genre, il intègre les connaissances issues des champs de la communication et des sciences politiques et sociales. Il a été conçu par un groupe international et interculturel de chercheurs, de formateurs et de journalistes.Les enseignants seront à même de lancer un programme d'études innovant.
