Education and Social Cohesion in Latin America: A Micro-political Perspective Год публикации: 2014 Автор: Silvina Gvirtz | Jason Beech Организация-автор: Universidad de San Andrés | Arizona State University This article analyses the relation between education and social cohesion in Latin America from a micropolitical perspective. Even though we acknowledge the relevance of the macro and mezzo levels, we argue that the political decisions that are made at the school level are crucial to understand the contribution of educational systems to social cohesion. We suggest that the relation between social cohesion and school micropolitics can be analysed in two dimensions: the first is related to the access and permanence of children in school, while the second is related to the curriculum. The article concentrates on the second level by analysing the relation between the curriculum and social cohesion from a local, a national, and a global perspective. Sin desconocer la importancia de los niveles macro e intermedio, se sugiere que las decisiones políticas que se toman en el nivel escolar son fundamentales para entender la contribución que hace el sistema educativo a la cohesión social. Sostenemos que existen dos niveles para pensar la cohesión social en la micropolítica de la escuela en América Latina: uno vinculado al acceso y permanencia de los niños y jóvenes en la institución y uno curricular. Tomando como eje el segundo de los niveles mencionados, proponemos que en términos del alcance de la cohesión social, la relación entre este concepto y la escuela puede ser pensada en tres dimensiones: la global, la nacional y la local.

Grounded in the scientific literature, the authors unpack the notion of citizenship as key educational concept based on multiple and diverse identities. Then, they outline the major steps undertaken at EU level to formalise and expand citizenship rights and to endorse citizenship education across the Union’s nationals, by showing that citizenship education is promoted more as a strategy for legitimising the Union rather than a participatory practice aimed at fostering democratic processes within Europe. Finally, they discuss the implications of these policy advancements from a social justice perspective, by advancing a critique of their political assumptions and, to some extent, the pedagogical approach they suggest. 
Eleventh meeting of the working group on Education for All, 2-3 February 2011, Paris, France: summary report Год публикации: 2011 Организация-автор: UNESCO The eleventh meeting of the Working Group (WG) on Education for All (EFA) took place on 2 and 3 February 2011 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The meeting brought together people representing governments, bilateral and multilateral organizations, regional organizations, civil society organizations (CSOs), research institutes, foundations and the private sector. Consisting of seven sessions, the meeting aimed to review the world’s progress towards EFA and identify policy actions that can accelerate EFA progress, in particular as regards quality education, effective advocacy for education, violent conflicts and education and financing for education. The recommendations of the meeting were to be taken to the tenth meeting of the High Level Group (HLG) on EFA (Jomtien, Thailand, 22–24 March 2011). La réunion a rassemblé des personnes représentant les gouvernements, les organisations bilatérales et multilatérales, les organisations régionales, les organisations de la société civile (OSC), les instituts de recherche, les fondations et le secteur privé. Composée de sept sessions, la réunion visait à examiner les progrès accomplis dans le monde pour l'EPT et identifier les actions politiques qui peuvent accélérer les progrès de l'EPT, en particulier que l'éducation concerne la qualité, le plaidoyer efficace pour l'éducation, les conflits violents et de l'éducation et le financement de l'éducation. Les recommandations de la réunion devaient être prises à la dixième réunion du Groupe de haut niveau (GHN) sur l'EPT (Jomtien, Thaïlande, 22-24 Mars 2011).

The Feminist Plan maps the ambitious and transformative policies – on livelihoods, care, and the environment – that are needed to build a more equal and sustainable future. To get there, calls for context-specific policy pathways, tailored political strategies, and financing. The plan identifies key levers that can create change and the actors at global, national, local levels that need to take action to move towards this vision. En el “Plan feminista” se hace un recuento de las políticas ambiciosas y transformadoras en torno a los medios de vida, los cuidados y el medio ambiente que se necesitan para construir un futuro más igualitario y sostenible. Para llegar ahí, el documento hace un llamado a que se avance en políticas específicas para distintos contextos, estrategias políticas adaptadas y un financiamiento adecuado. Asimismo, se identifican los instrumentos clave que pueden generar el cambio y a los actores que necesitan entrar en acción a los niveles global, nacional y local para poder avanzar hacia esta aspiración. Le « Plan féministe » cartographie les politiques ambitieuses et transformatrices relatives aux moyens de subsistance, aux soins et à l'environnement qui sont nécessaires pour construire un avenir plus équitable et durable. Pour y parvenir, il appelle à des approches politiques spécifiques au contexte, à des stratégies politiques adaptées et à un financement. Le plan identifie les leviers clés qui peuvent créer un changement ainsi que les actrices et acteurs aux niveaux mondial, national et local qui doivent prendre des mesures pour avancer vers cette vision.
