In this handbook, GCED related concepts are introduced, alongside adaptable step-by-step action plans and best practices collected across the Asia-Pacific region to support parents and the community to take action in developing GCED competences in learners.

Guardians of Planet Earth: Gamification in Early Childhood Education Год публикации: 2020 Организация-автор: Instituto Nacional de Tecnologías Educativas y de Formación del Profesorado (INTEF) The project "Inspiring Educational Experiences" is part of the Educational Digital Transformation Plan launched by INTEF, specifically "Guardians of planet Earth" whose main objective is the internalization by students of the importance of caring for our planet around three fundamental axes: recycling and treatment of waste, care of flora and fauna. With this, it intends to impregnate the students and their families with solid values that are internalized and endure over time and for this it uses different methodologies and active and participatory teaching strategies, in turn, favors the development of creativity and imagination in all activity of the project and explains how ICTs are a transversal element, offering the youngest population a variety of opportunities to use and enjoy technology. Youth Report 2022: Non-state Actors in Education; Who Chooses? Who Loses? For many, a discussion on the role of non-state actors in education quickly boils down to a debate about whether private schools support or undermine good-quality education.But the role of non-state actors impacts many more corners of the education sector, from the textbooks you use, the food in your canteens, any additional tutorial support you get, the skills you might learn at work and much more.The report invites youth to join a call for governments to #RightTheRules which will ensure that non-state actor involvement does not compromise the promise of providing 1 year of pre-primary and 12 years of primary and secondary education free for all. Education: Still Searching for Utopia? (The UNESCO Courier no. 1, January-March 2018) Год публикации: 2018 Организация-автор: UNESCO At a time of heightened global tension, when human rights, freedom of speech, peace and the future of the planet itself may seem challenged as never before, the transformational power of education is of critical importance.In Learning: The Treasure Within, the landmark Report to UNESCO by the International Commission on Education for the Twenty-first Century in 1996, Jacques Delors, then Chairman of the Commission (1992 to 1996), spoke of education as “the necessary Utopia” and “an indispensable asset in its attempt to attain the ideals of peace, freedom and social justice.”Education was held up as neither miracle nor magic, but rather the best means to foster a climate where humanity would be improved −. and where the rich potential for learning, inherent in every individual, would be tapped. Our humanity is confronted with a very strange paradox: the world’s population has never been better educated, and yet, according to the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, 263 million children and young people are out of school, 617 million children and adolescents worldwide do not meet the minimum threshold for literacy and mathematics, at least 750 million adults are illiterate, and girls remain more likely than boys to never set foot in a classroom. Yet education is still called upon to address inequalities, poverty, terrorism and conflict. It is seen as one of the keys to global citizenship and sustainable development, two of UNESCO’s fields of action. The Organization is also mandated to lead the Education 2030 global agenda with a special focus on ensuring that no one is left behind. Under the title, “Education: Still searching for Utopia?”, the UNESCO Courier evaluates the state of global education and explores how it responds to some of the main challenges we face.

I believe that a genuine dialogue and a frank debate between Ministers and other education actors on this central theme and on the four related sub-themes: approaches, scope and content; public politics; systems, interfaces and transitions, and students and teachers, will be both timely and appropriate.
