Global Citizenship Education in a Digital Age: Teacher Guidelines Год публикации: 2024 Организация-автор: UNESCO This book is an essential resource for teachers seeking to understand the critical role that digital citizenship education plays in promoting a more informed, engaged, and responsible global citizenry. While digital technologies have opened up new opportunities for life-long learning, they have also given rise to emerging concerns, notably in relation to the rise of disinformation and hate speech online. Aimed at building the capacities of teachers to prepare learners to act ethically and responsibly in physical and digital environments, these guidelines stress the importance of considering how Global Citizenship Education (GCED) and related knowledge, values, skills and attitudes can be fostered for teaching, learning and engaging for a more sustainable, inclusive, just and peaceful world.

Revision Process of the 1974 Recommendation concerning Education for International Understanding, Co-operation and Peace and Education relating to Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms: Compilation of Member State Comments Год публикации: 2023 Организация-автор: UNESCO Adopted in 1974, the Recommendation concerning education for international understanding, co-operation and peace and education relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms is considered a landmark legal instrument that brings together for the first time peace, international understanding, human rights, fundamental freedoms and education. As per Circular letter 4401, the preliminary report and the first draft of the revised 1974 Recommendation were transmitted to Member States for their written comments and observations. These written comments were taken into consideration by the Director-General when preparing the revised second draft of the Recommendation to be discussed at the Intergovernmental Special Committee Meeting (Category II), in view of its submission to the 42nd session of the General Conference in November 2023 and eventual adoption. 
Unmasking Racism: Guidelines for Educational Materials Год публикации: 2024 Организация-автор: UNESCO These Guidelines developed by UNESCO provide recommendations on how to combat racism in textbooks and to develop learning materials that are free of prejudice and bias and do not perpetuate stereotypes or legitimize unequal social structures. Through a comprehensive analysis of recent studies of textbooks and other educational materials, the guide also demonstrates how countries around the world address racism and racialization. It increases awareness and improves our understanding of how racism manifests in educational materials, and aims to support education stakeholders to promote just, peaceful and multicultural societies.

The World's Largest Flower: Resource Guide Год публикации: 2023 Организация-автор: Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) The creation of a pedagogical resource for Education for Global Citizenship, based on the story “The Largest Flower in the World”, written by José Saramago, arose on the occasion of the Commemorations of the Centennial of the Birth of José Saramago 2021-2022, as part of the activities of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) in Portugal and was promoted by the José Saramago Foundation (FJS) and the General Directorate of Education (DGE). To carry out the project, an alliance was made with Help Images, which produced the four videos that accompany the proposal. The activities aim to support the work of teachers, educators and animators within the framework of formal and non-formal education, in the construction of learning for a committed, coherent, supportive and respectful global citizenship of human rights, crossing the experiences of the students with the themes and contents presented in this proposal. The general objective of the project is to promote cooperation between Spain and Portugal in the educational, social and economic development of the border territories through the creation of a network of schools that pro-vides the populations knowledge and skills associated with bilingualism and interculturality relevant to citizenship, continuation of studies and employability in both countries. This article presents the PEBIF project, both its structuring theoretical principles and the implementation carried out, as well as the most relevant results obtained so far. El objetivo general del proyecto es promover la cooperación entre España y Portugal en el desarrollo educativo, social y económico de los territorios de frontera a través de la creación de una red de escuelas que proporcione a las poblaciones conocimientos y habilidades asociadas al bilingüismo y la interculturalidad relevantes para la ciudadanía, la continuación de los estudios y la empleabilidad en ambos países. En este artículo se presenta el proyecto PEBIF, tantos sus principios teóricos estructurantes como la implementación realizada, así como los resultados más relevantes obtenidos hasta ahora.

From these silent practices of internationalization we see the potential to build knowledge while respecting the interculturality that permeates the educational space. In this sense, we must recognize and understand these practices as internationalization processes, with a view to debating and reflecting on how they can contribute to the improvement of the educational system from an Ibero-American perspective.
