L’événement avait lieu dans le cadre de la 56e Assemblée générale annuelle de la Commission canadienne pour l’UNESCO et avait pour but de promouvoir le rôle de chef de file de l'UNESCO dans l'Agenda 2030 pour l'éducation. Cette vidéo a été produite au Musée canadien pour les droits de la personne, à Winnipeg, au Manitoba.

Ceux-ci n’ont toutefois pas le monopole de l’action en cette matière. Chacun – qu’il soit enseignant ou non – peut en prendre connaissance avant d’agir, agir, et encore agir, sans relâche. 
A Post-GAP (Global Action Programme for ESD) Position Paper Год публикации: 2018 Организация-автор: UNESCO The 5-year cycle of the GAP is due to end in 2019. To build a post-GAP position, this draft position paper has been prepared. Once revised through the consultation processes planned in 2018, the final draft will be submitted in 2019 to the Governing Bodies of UNESCO and the UN for their respective approval processes. Once the position is approved, it will be summarised into a post-GAP programme and launched in 2020 for implementation onwards to 2030. Voltooid verleden tijd? Het verband tussen kennis over de nazi-genocide en democratische attitudes bij adolescenten in Brussel Schools are expected to educate children to become democratic citizens by providing “civics” or history courses. It is believed that the formal curriculum affects each pupil’s level of awareness, which in turn influences civic competencies and social attitudes. This supposition is explicitly stated in ‘holocaust-education’ programmes and in ‘civics’courses. Accordingly, knowing about the atrocities of the Nazis would stimulate tolerance, and thus counter prejudice. The current contribution tests this supposition using surveydata (2002) from 773 French-speaking and 469 Flemish-speaking last-grade pupils from secondary schools in the Brussels-Capital Region. The survey probed for knowledge on the Nazi genocide and attitude scales (ethnocentrism and anti-democracy). The supposition about the connection between knowledge and tolerance holds partially for the Flemish, but not for the French-speaking sample. Knowledge may be a necessary, but is certainly not a sufficient, condition to foster tolerance. (By the author) 
Le rôle des enseignants dans l’éducation et la démocratie : impacts d’un projet de recherche sur la perception de futurs enseignants Год публикации: 2015 Автор: Gina Thésée | Paul R. Faculty of Education Cet article étudie les réflexions suscitées par un questionnaire d’enquête portant sur les liens entre l’éducation et la démocratie. Un échantillon de 157 étudiants d’un programme de formation initiale des enseignants à Montréal a répondu à un questionnaire de suivi (seconde étude) après avoir rempli un questionnaire d’enquête (première étude) portant sur leurs perceptions et leurs expériences des liens entre l’éducation et la démocratie. La première étude révèle une expérience démocratique faible et un parcours éducatif pratiquement sans lien avec la démocratie, ce qui concorde avec les résultats d’études antérieures. Cependant, les résultats du questionnaire de suivi indiquent que la participation à l’enquête a suscité des réflexions d’ordre socioéducatif, épistémologique, pédagogique et méthodologique, qui pourraient avoir des retombées significatives sur leur perception du rôle de l’enseignant.

Citizen Participation, a Keystone of Social Change for the Public Library Год публикации: 2013 Автор: Marie Désilets Организация-автор: Revue Documentation et bibliothèques The concepts of "citizen participation" and "empowerment" are, at present, widely discussed. The authors begin this article by defining these concepts in order to link them to the social development of libraries. Thus, Montréal's public libraries, a knowledge city, adhere to the values associated with citizen participation such as openness, equality, inclusion, and innovation. Their activities help foster the citizen's autonomy and his or her participation in society. Examples of different types of clients will be put forward and the conditions necessary for citizen participation will be outlined. The authors will attempt to assess the impact of citizen participation from a sustainable development point of view. How can public libraries relate and contribute to the cultural component of Agenda 21 from a sustainable development perspective? Why is it relevant to invest and encourage citizen participation in libraries? What gains can be made in the long-term? Examples of social and urban development help further the analysis.
