Attempts in and Experiences of the Cultivation of Civic Literacy in Modern China (Contemporary Education and Culture; Vol. 11, No. 2) Год публикации: 2019 Автор: Zhai Nan Организация-автор: Northwest Normal University The educational reform in modern China takes place in a special context of strong impact of foreign ideas and deep-rooted local culture where the importance is attached to the cultivation of Chinese citizens’ civic literacy. The concept of the citizen and its educational form reflect the influence of western educational thought, while the contents of education stick to the features of the Chinese nationality and modern times. Through an analysis of the publications in the Republic China period, it is found that the scheme was permeated with a strong local awareness, and reflected the combination of the native moral consciousness and the modern western civic concept. Youth-Led Roadmap for Gender Equality: A Plan to Achieve Sustainable Development Goal 5 in Canada Год публикации: 2019 Организация-автор: Plan International Canada | Canadian Teachers’ Federation The uniquely youth-led Roadmap – launched at the Women Deliver 2019 Global Conference in Vancouver, on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. It reflects the powerful perspectives of over 300 youth from all over Canada with diverse experiences and backgrounds, such as youth who have experienced homelessness, Indigenous youth, young people of colour, newcomers to Canada and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, among others, as well as individuals from remote and rural communities in Canada.The Roadmap includes 20 recommendations that individual Canadians can take today to achieve gender equality within their homes, communities and beyond. It also includes more than 40 additional recommendations targeted at public institutions, the private sector and governments to help Canada achieve Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender equality, by the goals’ end date of 2030.

However, at present, the understanding and application of the concept of citizenship are still in the shallow and mixed stage. This understanding is not conducive to the systematic cultivation of citizens through school education. Therefore, the understanding of the concept of citizenship should be further deepened, and the attributes of citizen’s equality, public and participation should be extracted with the clue of history, and the logical relationship between the attributes should be clarified. On this basis, civic education can obtain the corresponding level training strategy, and finally incubate the “full citizen”.
