Resultados iniciales del estudio Internacional de educación cívica y ciudadana de la IEA Год публикации: 2010 Автор: Wolfram Schulz | John Ainley | Julian Fraillon | David Kerr | Bruno Losito Организация-автор: International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) The International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) studied the ways in which countries prepare their young people to undertake their roles as citizens. It investigated student knowledge and understanding of civics and citizenship as well as student attitudes, perceptions, and activities related to civics and citizenship. It also examined differences among countries in relation to these outcomes of civic and citizenship education, and it explored how differences among countries relate to student characteristics, school and community contexts, and national characteristics. ICCS considered six research questions concerned with the following:1. Variations in civic knowledge;2. Changes in content knowledge since 1999;3. Student interest in engaging in public and political life and their disposition to do so;4. Perceptions of threats to civil society;5. Features of education systems, schools, and classrooms related to civic and citizenship education; and6. Aspects of student background related to the outcomes of civic and citizenship education.ICCS gathered data from more than 140,000 Grade 8 (or equivalent) students in over 5,300 schools from 38 countries. These student data were augmented by data from more than 62,000 teachers in those schools and by contextual data collected from school principals and the study’s national research centers. Different approaches to provision of civic and citizenship education were evident in the ICCS countries. These approaches included having a specific subject, integrating relevant content into other subjects, and including content as a cross-curricular theme. Twenty-one of the 38 countries in ICCS included a specific subject concerned with civic and citizenship education in their curriculum. Civic and citizenship education covered a wide range of topics, including knowledge and understanding of political institutions and concepts, such as human rights, as well as newer topics covering social and community cohesion, diversity, the environment, communications, and global society.

Becoming Citizens in a Changing World: IEA International Civic and Citizenship Education Study 2016 International Report Год публикации: 2017 Автор: Wolfram Schulz, John Ainley, Julian Fraillon, Bruno Losito, Gabriella Agrusti, Tim Friedman Организация-автор: International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement (IEA) The International Civic and Citizenship Education Study 2016 (ICCS 2016) investigated the ways in which young people are prepared to undertake their roles as citizens in a range of countries in the second decade of the 21st century. It studied students’ knowledge and understanding of civics and citizenship as well as students’ attitudes, perceptions, and activities related to civics and citizenship. Based on nationally representative samples of students, the study also examined differences among countries in relation to these outcomes of civic and citizenship education, and explored how cross-national differences relate to student characteristics, school and community contexts, and national characteristics. As the second cycle of this study, ICCS 2016 is a continuation and an extension of ICCS 2009.
Countering Terrorism through Education of Populations: The Case of African Countries Год публикации: 2011 Автор: Simon M. Lelo Terrorism has become a major concern of current governments. African countries are also involved in counter- terrorism but, due to several internal security and development problems, their effective participation in the combat against terrorism is very limited. They need capacity and skills in order to participate actively in countering terrorism. Education is one of the most appropriate ways for preparing African countries to prevent terrorism. Education provides not only knowledge but also capacity to make informed decisions, strategies and policies. The international community should help African countries to strengthen their education through specialized and general training programmes.
Countering Terrorism through Education of Populations: The Case of African Countries Год публикации: 2011 Автор: Simon M. Lelo Le terrorisme est devenu un enjeu de premier ordre pour les gouvernements actuels.
How can you embed global citizenship in your curriculum? Год публикации: 2012 Организация-автор: National Committee for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development (NCDO) This handbook offers tips, guidelines and inspiration for embedding global citizenship in your curriculum. It also helps your school answer the following questions: 1. What do you want to achieve? 2. Where is your school today? 3. What needs to be done? 4. Where to start? This publication is not a blueprint for embedding global citizenship in secondary education, but hopefully it will help you on your way to achieving that goal.
