Closing the Gap: Ensuring There Are Enough Qualified and Supported Teachers in Sub-Saharan Africa Год публикации: 2021 Организация-автор: International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030 | UNESCO The fourth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4) aims to ensure better learning opportunities and outcomes and more equitable and inclusive education for all. SDG target 4.c calls for an increase in the supply of qualified teachers, particularly in low-income countries. To achieve this ambitious target, the international community needs to pay renewed attention to teacher support and preparation.This advocacy brief considers what it will take to increase the supply of qualified teachers in sub-Saharan Africa, the region where the teacher shortage is most acute. It analyses the causes for teacher shortages, looks at trends affecting the region and describes the scale of the shortages. It examines the fiscal pressures on low-income countries to cover salary costs and the costs of initial teacher education and continuing professional development, and it proposes some recommendations for governments and the international community to achieve the essential target of substantially increasing the supply of well qualified teachers.  Disciplina positiva en la crianza cotidiana (Tecera edición) Год публикации: 2013 Автор: Joan E. Girls’ and women’s education and training featured in the document as one of 12 key areas where urgent action was needed to ensure greater equality.Since Beijing, the international community has emphasized the transformative power of girls’ and women’s education and its benefits – not only for girls and women, but for entire societies and even future generations. Several million adolescents and young people suffer from acts of violence, and trauma that require urgent medical and psychological treatment. The emotional imprints that youth volence leaves on its survivors and their loved ones are often profound. Youth violence destroys lives and its consequences have very high economic costs, both for society and for the families of young people. La violencia juvenil destroza vidas y sus consecuencias tienen costos economicos muy altos,tanto para la sociedad como para las familias de los jovenes. Lessons on Education Recovery: Findings From a Survey of Ministries of Education Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic Год публикации: 2021 Организация-автор: UNESCO | United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) | World Bank | Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have collaborated in the third round of the Survey on National Education Responses to COVID-19 School Closures, administered by the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) and OECD to Ministry of Education officials. The questions covered four levels of education: preprimary, primary, lower secondary and upper secondary. While the first two rounds of the survey were implemented during the periods May–June and July–October 2020, respectively, the third round was implemented during the period February–June 2021. In total, 143 countries responded to the questionnaire. Thirty-one countries submitted responses to the OECD (“OECD survey”) and 112 countries responded to the UIS (“UIS survey”). Seven countries responded to both surveys.
