Evaluation of UNESCO’s Action to Prevent Violent Extremism Год публикации: 2020 Организация-автор: UNESCO Internal Oversight Service (IOS) The purpose of this evaluation was twofold. To provide evidence, ideas and insights on how UNESCO’s efforts on PVE in the period from 2015-2018 have contributed to enhancing UNESCO’s action and position in the PVE sphere in light of the decisions of Member States. And to provide evidence and formulate lessons learned and good practices on the intersectoral approach with the aim of informing what works and what does not work in intersectoral cooperation.The evaluation found that UNESCO’s work on PVE was context specific and adjusted to respond to the needs of the countries and sub-regions where the work was being implemented.UNESCO’s work is aligned with the agency’s mandate and expertise and makes the most of its strong relationships with government bodies and civil society actors. UNESCO’s work on PVE has led to positive results around the quality, use and effectiveness of guidance documents, around capacity building of UNESCO partners and stakeholders, and around the provision of expertise and policy advice both at national and global level. Using an intersectoral approach led to an increase in information sharing and coordination. However, this was not always translated to intersectoral implementation or delivery of PVE initiatives.

It reflects the powerful perspectives of over 300 youth from all over Canada with diverse experiences and backgrounds, such as youth who have experienced homelessness, Indigenous youth, young people of colour, newcomers to Canada and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, among others, as well as individuals from remote and rural communities in Canada.The Roadmap includes 20 recommendations that individual Canadians can take today to achieve gender equality within their homes, communities and beyond. It also includes more than 40 additional recommendations targeted at public institutions, the private sector and governments to help Canada achieve Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender equality, by the goals’ end date of 2030.

Research in Teaching and Learning About the Holocaust: A Dialogue Beyond Borders Год публикации: 2017 Автор: Monique Eckmann | Doyle Stevick | Jolanta Ambrosewicz-Jacobs Организация-автор: International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) | Metropol A multilingual expert team of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) collected and reviewed research on teaching and learning about the Holocaust in fifteen languages identified nearly 400 studies resulting in more than 600 publications.This systematic review includes research conducted in most IHRA Member Countries as well as several non-member countries. The multilingual focus of the project enables cross-cultural analyses and the transfer of knowledge between various regions and countries. The book’s two parts present the research first by language and then by selected themes. This innovative transnational, trans-lingual study reflects IHRA’s core mission: to shape and advance teaching and learning about the Holocaust worldwide.The second outcome is a set of bibliographies in fifteen languages. These bibliographies comprise references to empirical research on teaching and learning about the Holocaust. They also include abstracts or summaries of most of publications. Each bibliography includes research from a single language or related group of languages.

The guidebook was a culmination of reaching out to 2000+ youth, and integrating 130+ submissions from 57 countries.After analysing these voices and experiences, and supplemented by the literature, the guide put forth a set of tangible action guidelines for education stakeholders.In this abridged version, stakeholders will find a curated set of critical ideas and lessons gleaned from the full guide, designed to be as accessible as possible. The hope is that teachers, parents, mentors, school administrators, policymakers, and anyone else committed to realizing positive change will find these Action Guidelines an effective resource for guiding immediate and effective actions in their communities.The Action Guidelines for Prevention of Violent Extremism is designed to identify engagement opportunities for all stakeholders. Some require time, preparation, and resources. Others are small steps that will help create safer societies and stronger communities. No action is too small to contribute to building a more resilient and just world.
