Global Education Monitoring Report 2022: Gender Report; Deepening the Debate on Those Still Left Behind 出版年份: 2022 机构作者: Global Education Monitoring Report Team | UNESCO The 2022 Gender Report presents fresh insights on progress towards gender parity in education with respect to access, attainment and learning. It showcases the results of new models that provide coherent estimates, combining multiple sources of information, on out-of-school and completion rates. It also reviews the results of learning assessments released over the past 18 months, which present an almost global picture of the gender gap in reading, mathematics and science achievement in lower and upper primary and lower secondary grades. They provide a baseline against which to assess the impact of COVID-19 on inequality when post-pandemic data start being released next year.A companion to the 2021/2 GEM Report, it emphasizes the role of non-state actors in influencing gender inequality in and through education. Non-state actors have filled in provision gaps left by the public education system. The 2022 Gender Report presents evidence on gender gaps in the share of students enrolled in private institutions by sex and what drives these gaps in the various regions. It also provides case studies on the privatization of childcare in high-income countries, the impact of non-state faith-based schools in Asia on gender norms and the role of women’s universities around the world. Some non-state actors have pushed the gender equality agenda forward, while others have undermined progress in order to maintain the status quo. Some have been at the front line for girls’ education in emergencies. Some have lobbied against comprehensive sexuality education. Some champion inclusion of marginalized girls, while others maintain discriminatory gender norms. Depending on the context, it is important not to make assumptions but to look carefully at the data and work together to eliminate all forces that prevent anyone on the basis of gender from fulfilling their potential through education.

La Cultura: Un bien público mundial (The UNESCO Courier no. 3; July-September 2022) 出版年份: 2022 机构作者: UNESCO Culture is what defines us in space and time – our past and present roots, our prospects. Culture is an inexhaustible and renewable resource, which adapts to changing contexts and which speaks to humans first and foremost through their capacity to imagine, create and innovate. Culture is our most powerful global public good. In the words of Javier Pérez de Cuéllar, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, culture has a role “as a desirable end in itself, as giving meaning to our existence”. Today, more than ever, we need to find meaning, we need universality, we need culture in all its diversity.

面向教育的新社会契约 (The UNESCO Courier Special Edition; November 2021) 出版年份: 2021 机构作者: UNESCO Reimagining Our Futures Together upholds the tradition of the major UNESCO reports that have already structured education policies throughout the world in the past. The Faure report, Learning to be, in 1972, and the Delors report, Learning: The Treasure Within, in 1996, have become benchmarks in the debate on learning. This third document presents a lucid assessment of the challenges confronting education today.Faced with the rapid changes in our environment, a change of direction is needed. We need to devote more importance to ecology; to provide students with the critical tools to detect misinformation, prejudices, and preconceived ideas; to strengthen teamwork, and to improve the professionalization of teachers. Beyond these imperatives, we must also rethink the multiple interdependencies, the links between generations and between cultures, and our relationship with living beings, to establish a new social contract for education.
