Challenges of Arab Education in the Twenty-First Century and Its Effect in Determining the Role of Teachers in the Future 出版年份: 2007 作者: ملكاوي، نازم محمود 机构作者: University of Sharjah This study aims at recognizing the most important challenges and issues, which Arab education has encountered during the current century in order to initiate a starting point for highlighting the role of teaching and its importance for future teachers. Among such challenges have been cultural hurdles, sustainable education, change leadership, the information revolution, vocational instruction, and environmental crises.The study points out that the role of a teacher in previous centuries was substantially different from the role teachers are required to perform in this century, this with reference to electronic education, which has already been established throughout the world, and future electronic schools. The teacher is no longer the sole source of knowledge and information. In fact, there are various means and sources available with huge quantities of information that can be easily retrieved and applied to teaching, which might in turn encourage instructors to develop their thought processes and cultural and technical capabilities.Current and future instructors must have an understanding of their new role in directing all of these sources in order to serve educational objectives in the interest of their countries and the Arab nation as a whole. Knowledge and its use should be viewed as among the most important sources of wealth. It is unity not division, wholeness not partiality, swiftness not reluctance that should form the basis of the new educational model. The study focuses on the features and role of the future teacher so that he/she might perform the teaching mission properly. The importance of the teaching profession is made clear along with the need for instructors to participate in higher levels of the educational decision-making process.Instructors need to participate in the educational process inside and outside school and realize the importance of teaching in this age of globalization, progress and openness. Instructors need to be experts in the means and methods for accessing information. They should depend upon a solid and thoughtful educational basis, supported by a strong belief in the career of teaching as a profession and the importance of the instructor’s own behaviour so as to prepare students with creativity, innovation and their constant learning in mind.The study recommends building a comprehensive educational plan for the Arab nation, where similar circumstances permit, the planning of which should be based on field and scientific research and encompass both the teacher and the educational process.

This report on the State of Global Education in Europe has been developed to provide an overview of current key issues, policy priorities, funding trends and activities in Global Education in Europe. It draws on the expertise and information provided by organisations that participate in Global Education Network Europe – GENE. These comprise Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Ministries of Education, and their respective national agencies, and other bodies with responsibility for policymaking, support or coordination of Global Education in European countries.

By referring to pedagogic routines and the political culture of nationalism, the paper indicates the nature of reforms education requires for contributing to peace. The basis of discussion is the author’s own study of the role played by school education, specifically through the teaching of history, in maintaining mutual hostility between India and Pakistan. The paper is divided into four sections.The first section summarizes conceptual issues raised by philosophers and educators in the context of schooling and peace. Section II introduces the author’s Indo-Pak study in relation to the challenges that nationalism, religion and culture place before education. Section III deals with regimentation as an integral aspect of modern schooling and its implications for the role expected from education in promoting peace.The final section discusses the demands and contradictions education faces under the increasing dominance of the human capital ideology. The paper concludes by highlighting the importance of humanist goals and processes in education for serving the cause of peace. Botswana National Implementation Plan for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 - Education 2030 出版年份: 2018 机构作者: Botswana National Commission for UNESCO The Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 is an ambitious and specific goal to drive the education development agenda from 2016 – 2030 and a means through which all the seventeen (17) SDGs will be achieved. The SDGs aim among others, to end poverty, hunger and inequality, take action on climate change and the environment, improve access to health and education, and build strong institutions and partnerships.To ensure adequate attention to the different thematic areas of education, SDG 4 has been broken down into seven targets and three means of implementation. The targets and the means of implementation are crafted in such a way that all the critical areas of education, both emerging and the unfinished Education for All (EFA) business could be addressed in some way through the global education agenda.This publication presents Botswana’s National Strategy for the Implementation of SDG 4 – Education 2030, which was developed with guidance from the Incheon Declaration on Education 2030. The Incheon Declaration on Education 2030 is a guide to Member States on the implementation of SDG 4. It provides an outline on how to translate the agenda into national priorities and further proposes some strategies and thematic indicators for measuring success on the different SDG 4 targets.

In a remarkable moment of global consensus, the member states of both the United Nations (UN), through its adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2015, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), through its Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2018, prioritized education for global citizenship and global competence.The OECD and the Center for Global Education at Asia Society have worked with academics, educators, and stakeholders in the global education field over several years to define global competence for primary and secondary education. The Center also has extensive experience supporting educators to integrate global competence into their teaching.A new publication from both organizations, entitled Teaching for Global Competence in a Rapidly Changing World, sets forward a new framework for global competence developed by OECD, which aligns closely with the definition developed by the Center for Global Education, and provides practical guidance and examples of how educators can embed global competence into their existing curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
