Historical efforts to implement the UNESCO 1974 Recommendation on Education in light of 3 SDGs Targets 出版年份: 2017 机构作者: UNESCO This paper presents an analytical overview of historical efforts by Member States of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to implement the 1974 Recommendation concerning education for international understanding, cooperation and peace education relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms. The author of the review was hired in April 2016 to undertake an analysis of Member States’ progress reports submitted for the fourth (2008) and fifth (2012) consultations on implementation of the 1974 Recommendation. The main purpose of the review was to provide a historical overview of efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Targets 4.7, 12.8 and 13.3 and their proposed measurement indicators, based on states’ historical reporting on the Recommendation. A total of 94 country reports were reviewed for the exercise: 37 from the 4th Consultation (2008); and 57 from the 5th Consultation (2012). The coding involved retrofitting the content of reportsto conceptsthat may have been developed at a later date for the Sustainable Development Agenda and coding for data that was not explicitly requested in the Consultations. Following the coding, a quantitative and qualitative analysis was undertaken and is presented in the following report. 
Education for international understanding: a river flowing from the mountains (SangSaeng vol5. autumn 2002) 出版年份: 2002 作者: Swee-Hin Toh 机构作者: APCEIU EIU (Education for International Understanding) is a concept that has diverse sources and tributaries, much like a river that begins in the mountains and flows to the sea or ocean, enriched by innumerable ideas, perspectives and practices along its journey. However, unlike a river in one community or nation, this is a river that flows across the world encompassing the breadth and depth of civilizations, peoples and mother Earth. Although by designation EIU appears to have a “modern genealogy,” it is vital to recognize and to search for its roots in the ancient wisdoms of all civilizations, especially through the values and principles of well-being, dignity and good or virtuous relationships between and among all peoples, communities and societies. EIU has been catalyzed and developed by multiple individuals, organizations, agencies and movements, including educators, researchers, national/multilateral organizations (e.g. UN agencies), NGOs, people’s organizations (POs) and other civil society movements and advocates. EIU is simultaneously practiced in all modes of education (formal, non-formal and informal), but a challenge is to attain synergy across all the modes for optimal outcomes and sustainability. Exploring the Use of Citizen-generated Data to Monitor Progress Towards Achieving the SDGs 出版年份: 2017 机构作者: People's Action for Learning Network The 5th Annual PAL Network meeting was held in Xalapa, Mexico from 13th to 16th March 2017. The meeting was jointly hosted by Medición Independiente de Aprendizajes (MIA) and the PAL Network. The meeting provided structured opportunities for deep exploration of this year’ theme: ‘Power to the People’. The theme was critically explored by over 80 participants from more than 19 Global South countries in four different sub‑theme groups. Each sub-theme focused on a different aspect of citizen participation in conducting household-based learning assessments with a focus on value, potential and next steps.

Education monitoring is an integral part in this process.This publication delivers a data-rich snapshot of Sustainable Development Goal 4, its targets and their monitoring indicators while analyzing available data through a lens of inequality.Assessing the progress which countries have made in the recent past as well as where countries currently stand, this publication sets a baseline against which Member States from Asia and the Pacic are able to monitor progress in achieving the Goal 4 over time but at latest by 2030.Finally, after discussing emerging opportunities and remaining challenges in the region, this publication seeks to assist Member States in identifying what steps can be taken to ensure that the region will achieve the new education agenda.

The participants of the Envision 4.7 event held in Helsinki, 6th and 7th November 2019, made this document to contribute to the achievement of Target 4.7 of the universal Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This document was shaped and influenced by the expertise and insight of everyone who came to the conference. Bridge 47 is calling on this collective knowledge and community of experts to continue moving these recommendations forward as we all aim to achieve SDG Target 4.7 and use transformative education as a mechanism for achieving all of the Sustainable Development Goals.
