Achieving environmental citizenship necessitates effective environmental education, which endeavors to impart direction, values, and behaviors conducive to environmental stewardship. It seeks to elucidate key concepts and cultivate essential skills for comprehending and appreciating the intricate relationships between humanity, culture, and the environment. That is why it is foolish to continue to flush billions of liters of treated fresh water down our toilets everyday. Since 40% of the 6 billion people on earth use toilets, it is a lot of water. Rohit embarked on a project to redesign the water closet / flush to reduce the consumption of water. He made this possible with a simple mechanism added to the conventional closet that creates a partial vacuum when the user pushes down the flush lever. He called it the Vacu-Flush. 
Natural disaster preparedness and education for sustainable development 出版年份: 2007 机构作者: UNESCO Bangkok Natural Disaster Preparedness and Education for Sustainable Development provides details of the development of culturally appropriate and locally relevant educational material for natural disaster preparedness that targets key stakeholder groups and integrates Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) principles and strategies. It is expected to develop and strengthen a regional network to implement and further ESD initiatives throughout the region by promoting education for natural disaster preparedness as well as ESD. This will underpin an identified key area of the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015: Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters. The publication articulates the lessons learned by the four in-country project teams (i.e., the Maldives, Thailand, Indonesia and India) and two collaborating organizations (i.e., Asia/Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society) in developing materials in collaboration with community groups in the Asia-Pacific region. It provides insights into effective techniques to develop locally relevant educational materials, and highlights some of the challenges in that field.

Asia-Pacific Digital Transformation Report 2024: Digital Innovation for Smarter Climate Action 出版年份: 2024 机构作者: UN. Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN. ESCAP) In Asia and the Pacific, the climate crisis intersects with digital transformations through a complex mix of challenges and opportunities, creating a series of vicious but also potentially virtuous cycles. The Asia-Pacific Digital Transformation Report 2024 considers how digital transformations will structurally and irreversibly affect the trajectory of climate change. It presents a digital-growth-climate nexus to better understand the diverse and dynamic picture and considers ways in which the region can follow the most positive trajectory to avert a climate catastrophe. The Report showcases good practices and country examples of digital applications in addressing climate change, in terms of mitigation and adaptation. These can involve the use of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, digital twins, geospatial technologies and others, which have been employed in infrastructure, government, mobility, industry and trade, digital data centres, disaster risk reduction, agriculture and biodiversity ecosystems. The Report then explores key drivers of digital transformation for climate change and outlines three future scenarios. It concludes with the key findings of the Report and proposes policy actions aligned with the five actors of the Digital Transformation Index Framework.
