El aporte significativo de las experiencias referidas, reside en el reconocimiento y valoración de la diversidad étnica y cultural de sus estudiantes y comunidades, como punto de partida para el desarrollo de nuevos aprendizajes y afirmación de su identidad. A su vez, la vida en los centros educativos promueve relaciones interculturales de respeto y fraternidad en un contexto sociogeográfico local y subregional, caracterizado por la multiculturalidad.

The first is an analysis of how the educational policies of five countries in the region -Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru- address the issue of cultural diversity, both through its legislation and its curricular policies. teacher training and institutional management. The second presents a set of ethnographic studies conducted in these same countries in order to show how the phenomenon of "cultural discrimination" occurs in the daily life of the school, the opposite side of the "cultural pluralism" that the school is called to build. In this second edition, we are pleased to add other inclusion mechanisms that arise from the commitment of the UNESCO Chair in Inclusion in Higher Education, the valuable support from non-profit private foundations and the support of OREALC / UNESCO Santiago. The generation of these alliances constitutes a fundamental contribution to the collection of relevant information for the design of public policy proposals aimed at reducing the inequality gaps in higher education, guaranteeing the right to a quality education and to collaborate in the construction of societies with greater social justice. En esta segunda edición, nos complace sumar otros mecanismos de inclusión que surgen del compromiso de la Cátedra UNESCO de Inclusión en la Educación Superior, el valioso apoyo de fundaciones privadas sin fin de lucro y el apoyo de la OREALC/UNESCO Santiago. La generación de estas alianzas constituye un aporte fundamental para el levantamiento de información relevante para el diseño de propuestas de políticas públicas tendientes a disminuir las brechas de desigualdad en la educación superior, a garantizar el derecho a una educación de calidad y a colaborar a la construcción de sociedades con mayor justicia social.

In order to shed light on this phenomenon in Latin America, this report analyzes the gender gaps in educational achievement in the Third Regional Comparative and Explanatory Study (TERCE) led by the Latin American Laboratory for Assessment of the Quality of Education (LLECE). Consulta regional de la UNESCO en América Latina sobre educación sobre el Holocausto y el genocidio: informe Année de publication: 2014 Auteur institutionnel: UNESCO Santiago This consultation with Latin American Member States sought to raise awareness amongst policymakers and education specialists of the region about the history of the Holocaust, as it can contribute to the prevention of genocide, following United Nations General Assembly resolution 60/7 on Holocaust remembrance. The meeting also aimed at fostering concrete cooperation between UNESCO and Member States on education about the history of genocide and mass atrocities, notably the Holocaust, with a view of introducing the subject in the curriculum and of developing relevant educational programmes in the region. The overall objectives of the project were as follows:▶ Strengthen educational leaders’ awareness and support for Holocaust remembrance and education about the history of genocide and mass atrocities, in line with regional efforts to foster education for peace and human rights.▶ Increase the implementation of education programmes about the history of the Holocaust and other genocides, and support interested Ministries of Education to introduce these subjects in the curriculum.▶ Foster regional exchanges about this topic and facilitate access to good practices regarding Holocaust and genocide related issues and peace education.
