Human Dignity: Contemporary Pattern and Traditional Patterns (Revista Brasileira de Direito; vol. 11, no. 2) Année de publication: 2015 Auteur: Antonio Pelé Auteur institutionnel: Faculdade Meridional-IMED The concept of human dignity refers to the intrinsic and absolute value of human beings and repre- sents the grounding human rights. Those features are usually studied as if they were the results, in the history of Western thought, of the progressive recognition of the human moral value. Our work aims to show precisely the contrary, showing some clear differencies between the current paradigm of human dignity and the previous and traditional patterns of dignity. Thus, the basic features of each (current and previous) pattern are analyzed in order to show that the contemporary paradigm of human dignity as little in common with the previous paradigms of dignity. Estas características suelen ser estudiadas como si fuesen las consequencias de un lento desarrollo del reconocimiento progressivo del valor moral del ser humano en la historia del pensamiento occidental. Nuestro estudio pretende, al contrario, establecer unas claras diferencias entre el modelo contemporáneo de dignidad humana y los modelos anteriores (tradicionales) de dignidad. Para llegar a este fin, realizamos y destacamos las características principales de estos modelos, mostrando que el modelo contemporáneo de dignidad humana tiene poco en común con sus aproximaciones anteriores. Ante este nuevo paradigma se encuentran grandes retos como buscar la manera de hacerlos exigibles, ya sea en forma ordinaria o judicial. En este contexto es necesario que algunos de estos derechos estén previstos en nuestra Carta Magna, como el derecho a una pensión o jubilación suficiente que le permita a una persona tener una vida digna después de haber concluido su vida laboral; y es que no hay que olvidar que el derecho a la vida es, por ende, el más importante de los derechos humanos y en consecuencia a que esta sea digna. 
From Sustainable Development According to Brundtland to Sustainability as Biomimicry Année de publication: 2014 Auteur: Roberto Bermejo Gómez de Segura Auteur institutionnel: Hegoa, Institute for International Cooperation and Development Studies This text aims to analyze the concept of sustainability, starting from the concept of sustainable development of the Brundtland Report, and using this as a measuring stick of what government institutions raise on the subject directly or through the agreements of the world conferences. In addition, the academic debate on the concept of sustainability is reviewed, to go on to present its interpretation as an imitation of nature and the epistemological transformations that it causes in neoclassical economics. Finally, the factors that are proposed to generate the transformation are briefly evaluated. Además, se repasa el debate académico sobre el concepto de sostenibilidad, para pasar a presentar la interpretación del mismo como imitación de la naturaleza y las transformaciones epistemológicas que provoca en la economía neoclásica. Por último, se evalúan someramente los factores que se proponen para generar la transformación.

El uso indiscriminado del término «sostenible» ha generado un agotamiento de su acepción inicial, perdiendo su significado y dificultando su riguroso análisis. Este artículo promueve la discusión crítica del papel de lo sustentable en el acontecer del desarrollo de la sociedad, considerando que éste concepto contempla cambios importantes en la contemporaneidad respecto a los valores de la sociedad.

UNESCO supports the work of dedicated journalists and activists who defend fundamental freedoms, like the journalist Dawit Isaak, winner of the 2017 UNESCO/ Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize, whose story appears in this issue of the UNESCO Courier.Over the last decade, more than 800 journalists have been victims of crimes aimed at muzzling freedom of expression. Only one murder out of ten ended with a conviction. This impunity is unacceptable and further fuels the spiral of violence in the future. This is why UNESCO is committed to putting an end to these crimes against the press, on all continents, as an indispensable condition for peaceful societies that are all the more robust for being better informed.In this “post-truth” era, the role of UNESCO is more important than ever, and this issue of the Courier is a wonderful opportunity to renew our founding commitment to support information and communication to build peace in the minds of men and women.
